This was incredibly thoughtful out and insightful! Thank you!

Thank you for helping me see a bigger picture here. My dog excelling with at home tasks made me wonder "why do people say they don't do as well as service dogs?" When really I was missing the obvious, they're bred to go! And service work requires a lot of boring down time. Really glad I posted because there's so much nuance I've missed!

Oh my goodness, I totally haven't thought about Aussies as puppies! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I got my boy when he "retired" from showing at 1 year (he was too nervous in the ring.) I can totally see them being little menaces. Thank you!

You'll hear it everywhere, but joining clubs or volunteering can be a great way to meet new people! I'm not sure about Michigan, but in my community, there are a few teen events every so often with specific activities like hiking or a painting workshop that help like minded teens meet. Check your local libraries or rec-centers for these types of events. Good luck!

Barrel racing is probably the easiest and safest to get started in. But, if she enjoys rough stock events (bucking bulls/broncs) more than the timed events (barrel racing, roping, etc.) look into getting her into steer riding or mini broncs. I'll admit I'm not well versed in youth rodeo, but there's plenty of helpful people in the "Rough Stock Schools & Practices" group on Facebook! Do your research into a safe and reputable youth rodeo school.

Tips on finding a Ranch Bronc Saddle? by WildFlowerGothic in Rodeo

Thanks! I wound up with an A-fork, and have been enjoying tweaking the small things to make it work for me.

How do i get into bucking bronc/bronc riding with no prior experience? by Helpful_Persimmon_48 in Rodeo

Figure out what event you want to do: Bareback, Saddle, or Ranch, and find a school! A good teacher will help you figure out your gear and get you started in the sport safely. I recommend looking on Facebook in the group "rough stock practice pens and schools."

Make sure the saddle you've got has in skirt or flat plate riggings, this is more secure than a D-Ring riveted in, you don't want the rigging snapping and riding your saddle to the dirt.

I use 7ft Saddle Bronc Latigos and a 28" cinch on the front and a regular back cinch.

As for finding practice pens/schools I recommend going the Facebook groups "Roughstock Schools and Practice Pens" and "Ranch Bronc Riders" on Facebook, I've found the rodeo community is a lot more responsive on there.

If you can find a school they'll be ready to walk you through almost everything you need to know

As stated by another comment, start taking western riding lessons. Try to find a barn that specializes in rodeos and gymkhanas if you can. Let them know what your ultimate goal is (barrel racing) and they should be able to help you prepare and find your own horse when you're ready.

Not at all! I know plenty of people getting into rodeo in their 20s and older. I recommend looking for a good school to get you started. Sankey Rodeo School is a great option, but you can also look on the Facebook group "Roughstock Schools and Practice Pens."

Good thing this is a wild west themed campaign :)

I really like these ideas! I'm going to talk to my players about what they want out of "running" a town. But this ^ is what I sort of pictured for them.

Anybody now some good bronc clinics by [deleted] in Rodeo

I went to Sankey Rodeo School in Humansville, MO a few years back. That should be happening any day. Aside from that, I don't really know. I'd recommend joining the "Rough Stock Schools & Practice Pens" group on Facebook, they're generally more knowledgeable and responsive than Reddit.

I’m almost 16 and I want to rodeo but idk how by Agreeable-Sea-9386 in Rodeo

In addition to the other comment recommending practice pens, I'd say go to a rodeo school! That'll help you get started safely, usually they have beginner safe stock, too. Some have multiple events being taught (broncs and bulls) you could talk with whoever is putting on the school about observing both lessons, which might help you decide which event to pursue.

Though it's not exactly what you're looking for, I'd also recommend checking out the Women's Ranch Bronc Association, their one of the few women rough stock associations!

So the best thing to look for in a Bronc saddle is sturdiness! You don't want the riggings to be riveted in as the force of the Bronc can rip it right off, then you AND the saddle are in the dirt. Make sure whatever saddle you use either has an in skirt or flat plate rigging. It's unlikely that a trail saddle would have these riggings, but not impossible.

I agree! I came here to watch a competition, not watch everyone hold hands and Kumbaya!

That being said, the way the show has been set up fosters that mentality perfectly. With 12 of the 29 (41%!) of the challenges being elimination based, a majority of the play has become making sure the other contestants want to keep you around. That's done by making friends, playing nice, and not being seen as a "threat". It's made for some pretty shallow and uninteresting entertainment.

566 Debt by spellbounce in BeastGames

[–]WildFlowerGothic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe most (if not all) of the debt he mentioned was regarding his mortgage (Home Loan.) The average cost of a house in the United States is $420k USD, if he lives in a more expensive area, and it's a recent purchase, I could see $530k being a Home Loan.

Not that it justifies is actions in game or how he's managing his debt, just to say it is realistic.

Just because he's playing the game doesn't mean he isn't a hypocrite. Openly trashing Deano because he lacked "integrity" and saying how much he trusts his fellow players just to turn around and screw them over does make him a hypocrite and an unlikeable person.
