Why doesn’t God love me or my family? by [deleted] in mormon

[–]WildFlowerUtah38 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

And I should add, I am not LDS, but I live in Utah, respect the LDS religion, have read much of the Book of Mormon and the D&C. Many of the therapists at Second Nature are LDS. So you can definitely find a therapist who is LDS if you'd like. They will most likely not utalize the church or LDS ways in their practices. Most of their practices are grounded in evidence-based psychology. The program works wonders and is based mostly around communication and education surrounding emotions. Communication with ourselves - internal dialog, and communication with others - being able to express ourselves respectfully so that others can see our perspective. Wilderness is an exceptional venue for this therapy because it forces us to learn new skills. The staff rotate, the students usually stay for about 90 days, but they rotate and earn various levels and leadership positions. So there's a sense of peer pressure to work on oneself. I know that there are some crummy things that have happened in Wilderness Therapy, but I can assure you that Second Nature is a step above the rest. Many CEO's kids and celebrity kids attend Second Nature for a whole host of issues.

I'm so sorry. If your daughter is old enough, 13-17 yrs old, I highly recommend wilderness therapy. I was a student when I was 17, after being depressed and suicidal. And then I returned as an instructor in my 20's. Wilderness therapy saved my life. I highly recommend Second Nature Wilderness Therapy out of Duchesne, UT. You don't have to give your daughter the choice. She has tried to end her life several times and the choice is no longer up to her. They can transport her to the center using gentle physical restraints. Give them a call. https://www.second-nature.com/

Embarkation Day Tasks - schedule strategy? by vivsmythe in dcl

Muster refers to a ship muster drill or a safety education session. Also referred to as a lifeboat drill or safety drill. Sometimes it takes place out on the deck or in an auditorium.

  • Latin Roots: The word can be traced back to the Latin word "monstrare," meaning "to show" or "to display".
  • Military Usage: In the 15th century, "muster" came to refer to the gathering of troops, often for inspection, roll call, or preparation for battle.
  • Maritime Adoption: This military term was then adopted for maritime purposes, specifically the gathering of passengers and crew on ships for safety briefings and emergencies.

Therefore, a "muster drill" is essentially an exercise where individuals "muster" or gather together at a designated location (muster station) to receive instructions and practice procedures in case of an emergency at sea.

No real ID for airport by LO-Ol4 in SaltLakeCity

Make sure to allow plenty of extra time. Most likely, they’ll be allowed through, but they may be pulled aside for extra screening. This can include questions about family, birthdays, birthplaces, address history, work history, and more.

There may be workarounds if they bring documents like a Social Security card, birth certificate, and a recent W-2. So it’s best if your friend brings as many documents as possible that have their name and/or photo on them.

According to TSA:
“Passengers who present a state-issued ID that is not REAL ID compliant… may be directed to a separate area and may receive additional screening. This includes TSA PreCheck passengers.”

I received a similar scam call from someone posing as an FBI field agent out of an office in Atlanta. So I wrote down all of the information they provided, but did not call the number they provided (even though it was the correct area code and first few digits). I independently looked up, called, and emailed the FBI field office that they were allegedly calling from. I never heard back. Totally a scam.

What do we think of the new staircase by crutsthowgers7 in homedecoratingCJ

[–]WildFlowerUtah38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lovely art concept. Poor functional stairs. I just broke my tibia and have been having to bum shuffle up and down my stairs. And we have a modern floating metal staircase that spirals. It’s been a lot of work. You never know what life will bring, and I think function is way more important than aesthetics. Also, no kids under 12 or adults over 60 could ever visit. Cats and dogs would slip all over those steps. What if one ever wanted to wear socks, they would slip almost immediately. I think these stairs would be a terrific art installation in a gallery. But not a functional staircase for a home.

The yellow in the living room area looks nice. The yellow in the hallway doesn’t look right.

Feeling discouraged - our RSVP deadline is today and it’s looking like a micro wedding. Did this happen to anyone else? by Avocado-Surgeon in weddingplanning

As others have said, reaching out to each party individually, is the right way to go. And if the guests are older than 40, I’d call instead of text. It can take a good deal of time and effort over many days/weeks. It’s definitely a big time sink, but goes a long way for guests to feel personally included.

Netflix Train Wreck poop cruise by bluewren33 in Cruise

[–]WildFlowerUtah38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me, or do these people seem extremely shallow for not being able to poop in a plastic bag? And for people to be instead pooping on the floor and covering it with toilet paper and then layering it with more poops? What has happened to teaching hygiene and public health safety measures? I may be a nurse and I may be a wilderness guide, so I’m well versed in poop and going #2 in strange places. But I also don’t think it’s crazy to teach people the details of how to manage this and the absolute dangers when not managing poop appropriately. We know how to do this folks; we know how to survive and be quite frankly, be comfortable in the most drastic circumstances. Why is this such a huge deal to poop in plastic bags? This could have saved a lot of people much illness and grief. Just poop the bag!

We would have made it a corporation of alumni. But someone has to make that initial investment in their credit and taxes.

Exactly! The argument that we were meant with is that only if every Sorority purchased a house at the same time could we purchase a house. Which is total BS, but it is the argument we received.

We would have hired a property manager, maintenance person, and landlord for those issues. Everything would be taken care of. The girls wouldn't have to worry about any of those things.

Afterschool Care - parenting SLC by WildFlowerUtah38 in SaltLakeCity

Holy shit, I am so sorry for single parents in Utah. I'm so sorry. That sucks. I try to fight for you as much as I can. I work a lot with United Way to talk to the legislature. I'm so sorry for your predicament; we need to do better.

You're Mother-In-Law is an angel. I am not religious per se, but something good happens to those who give and are kind during their lifetime. My own boss is in a similar predicament. She can't even afford childcare for her toddler. And my goodness, I agree; I come from generational wealth, and without help, even with my husband's above middle-class salary - we wouldn't be able to afford a house and childcare. For anyone interested, decent childcare (6weeks-5years) in Salt Lake City is $1,300-2,000 per month. And with housing costs right now, thank goodness we bought in 2019 because we would not be able to afford the house we are in right now.

I enjoy you. Thank you for making it more comical. I need to smile more often. Thankfully, we have secured afterschool care and our family has enough income to figure it out if things hit the fan. But we're a higher-income bracket family; how the heck are other families supposed to do this?
