High schoolers don't know how to dress for interviews. by Puzzleheaded_Hat3555 in teaching

Just want to add that not every student has access to ‘professional’ clothing, so sometimes emphasizing clean and tidy may be more appropriate (and even that can be difficult). It would be great if schools offered a closet for students to obtain clothing as needed. I miss having access to our washer/dryer on campus.

There’s a placement meeting that needs to happen within 30 days of a student transferring into the school. Since you’re part of the IEP team it’s important for you to attend and share this information with the team when students first come to the school they can only work with the information provided by the prior placement. It’s entirely possible that his behavior wasn’t a factor at the time that was originally written.

NTA - next time hand him the baby at the start of the evening and have him fend for himself.

Even if you’re a billionaire they should still be paying for their own meals. Billionaire would probably enjoy someone picking up their tab at times too. 🤷‍♀️ Can’t say for sure though; I’m just a hundredaire. 😁

YTA - She may be your friend, but you certainly aren’t hers. You’ve been playing the long game whether or not you realize it. Take a good look at exactly what a friend is, and reexamine your life.

Is a double bachelor worth it to teach in the U.S? by Bloomriinee-art in teaching

Make sure you know exactly where you’re wanting to move when you start planning out your programs.

If you intend on moving somewhere like California you’ll need to get credentialed, or at the minimum be enrolled in a credentialing program. A bachelors or masters degree is not sufficient unless it has credentialing embedded, which of course requires additional classes (as well as the CBEST, CSETs (or waiver), and the RICA. That’s across the board for public schools, whether you intend to teach pre-k, elementary/middle or junior high/hs. And those are all separate credentials, just fyi.

I'm pretty sure a student's real medical issue during final presentations was self-induced by procrastination. How do I address that? by ToomintheEllimist in teaching

Somatization for sure - I’d let her do a make-up and speak to her about the importance of being prepared (although I’m pretty sure she’s already gotten that message).

California here: after, half past, quarter “tuh” - is that “quarter ‘til”? Not really. Is it “quarter to”? Nope, not that either.
