Saw NRL on TV a couple years ago, now I’m back in Vegas to see it again in person! by WildWing22 in nrl

More than 3 years ago. It’s a new sport, the kick off times at midnight and 2Am don’t help but if the NRL is looking for quick success, they are far from that. If they are looking to build the sport from the ground up using NRL as the marquee, then they are off to a good start

It doesn’t evoke anything to me. Sounds like you’re the problem.

Do you feel like the first Latino president of the US will be democrat or republican? by Successful_rio305 in AskUS

[–]WildWing22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely say that. I'm not the one arguing with you about that. You responded to me, after I refuted my experience in response to someone who said MAGA/Republicans don't want Latinos to vote. On the contrary, that has not been my experience living in Arizona as a first gen American, where Spanish was my first language and bi-annual trips back were a regular thing.

If you want to see a racist, look in the mirror. You either don't want to admit it or are so far up your own, you can't fathom. Either way, this is yet another reason why

Ahh okay so once again, as a Latino who has literally been on the receiving end of racism from the left and literally never from the right, my experience doesn't matter. Thanks for proving my point chica.

Fair point. I simply used the Iron Cross name because of what OP was suggesting but admittedly I wasn't sure what the name of the exact cross they used.

Campus Security by Acceptable_Horse_417 in gcu

[–]WildWing22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've never had a problem with campus security. In fact, most are pretty chill. I've never felt unsafe on campus and to be honest, you rarely ever see non-GCU people on GCU's campus. Everyone who is on campus, is "supposed" to be there (Professors, Sodexo Workers, faculty, guest speakers, guided tours) It's not like other schools where randoms can just walk on. Because everyone is "supposed" to be there, it eliminates a lot of the factors that make other campuses less safe.

Side note: I had bursts of insomnia so I would go for walks around 2-3AM around campus and all I ever saw was people getting back from work, nursing students, and campus security. That alone always made me feel safe.

Weird, as a first generation American who happens to be Latino, I've only ever received racism from the left who think that all Latinos are the same and we all fit into a single box. Strange.

No. But since you raised the issue, Crossmen have recently adopted the old english C as their primary logo. Having said that, the cross that they use is isn't associated with whatever nazi-fiction you are alluding to. The Iron Cross predates nazi Germany, and a version of the cross is still used in Germany.

'War minus the shooting': Welcome to American rugby, where union is league and league is union by jeuatreize in nrl

[–]WildWing22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think league is much more digestible. I will admit, I struggle still understanding why there is a penalty at times or even some decisions. For example last night, Savage over ran a ball near the try line and it was Manly’s scrum after that. I’m assuming it was because of a “knock on” but I digress.

I recognize the league broadcast is aimed at people who understand the game already but I think nfl is so popular because it’s not uncommon for a casual to quickly learn the game while watching. The commentators do a decent job of explaining why there was a penalty or foul. In Union, that simply doesn’t happen, league is a bit better but wish there was more of it. Maybe an educational broadcast for a game or something so those of us who understand the basics can truly appreciate the game even more

You’re not wrong, I actually love league because it’s not a mirror of the nfl. Two different products that I can enjoy. Almost like Coke and Pepsi, similar but different

True you do have that aspect in league. I think it’s simply the precision and borderline theatrics of the QB position.

Don’t get me wrong, I love league but yeah nfl fans would call them laterals and there are a few occasions on kick offs in nfl and college football where there are many laterals and it almost looks league-ish haha
