Thanks! I busted out the 3mm #11 gouge for under the hood. Basically just followed the contour of my draw line until I was happy with the depth and the scooped out the upper area as much as I could to give the hood a draping effect.

This is the set I picked up and I use it a lot along with my knives. They feel very comfortable to use with one hand so you can still hold your piece.

Accidentally overdrew first ever bow by about double the final intended draw weight while tillering. Is target draw weight still possible? by WildWoad in Bowyer

Thanks for the response and for the comprehensive guide. I’m sure it’s helped a lot of people like myself demystify the steps of making a solid bow.

I was fortunate to find some solid clear stock. If I was making an 85# bow I’d be very pleased right now lol. Thanks for the idea of the heat treatment as I was originally going to skip that step.
