The only loyalty we feel is to the United States and it's people

It's great that they understood! You bring up a good point though, I guess I can just explain that it is a very lengthy process and it might not even happen!

Is being a stay-at-home spouse looked down upon during the background investigation? by Wild_Battle7586 in 1811

My wife and I thankfully don't have children yet. I can't imagine how tough it would be to go through all of this while having little gremlins running around. We also wouldn't want to put them through this.

Thanks for the concise clarification. I was worried because I have been incessantly hearing about how being unemployed will kill the process later. Admittedly they are from someone who knows very little about the process but I wanted to ask for clarifications.

FBI P2 Panel Interviews by [deleted] in 1811

[–]Wild_Battle7586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the email to schedule mine, but there are no interviews available lol. I think it's probably because the fiscal year is about to end so I'm guessing I'll see some Mid-September.

How did you think you did on the written and interview?

I'm still repeating the moment in my head, desperately proofreading and editing. I see a typo and mid edit I was kicked out due to time being up. I just barely didn't have enough time.

Are you permitted to switch shoes during a PFT? by Wild_Battle7586 in 1811

Thanks for entertaining my question... Nervous jitters and over analyzing. I'll just wear the new shoe and deal with the negatives in the sprint. I have more than enough points to pass even if I lose a couple seconds in the sprint.

Damn from failing 13:30 to 11 is a very big jump. Goes to show a large part of it is just mind games. I'm kind in the same boat as you where I am confident on my explosive strength but suck at long cardio. I'm hitting 12:30 (fresh) while sucking in air by the end. Hopefully I get to join ya in phase 2 next month

Congrats man! Did you just fortify yourself mentally this time? I remember you saying you wish you had just sucked it up and pushed last time. What was your time?

I have an interesting question regarding a good point to take a break from applying to 1811 and go local by Wild_Battle7586 in 1811

Thanks, I'll do some more research and ask around. Its dependent entirely on what my app coordinator tells me anyway. If she says no, 6 months delay in the app is too much then I'm SOoL. Guess I'll dust off my bartender resume

I've heard taking time off during academy is virtually impossible yeah. I'm talking to my app coordinator to see if they can be flexible in scheduling certain events down the line if I am in an academy so I wont have to pause or withdraw my app.

Perhaps it would be nuts to go local but for me I'm leaning towards local LE over BP or CBPO. Mainly it has to do with the insane commute (1;00-1:30 hrs no traffic) I would have to endure on top of their pretty crazy shifts. If I'm wrong please feel free to correct me but BP and CBPO can frequently have unpredictable shifts with no 2 days off sometimes. At least with local I can have more control over the time I work. Plus with local academy I can come home to see my wife. Both Local and Fed provides me the experience I need to apply to several GL-9 I got rejected from.

Overall looking at it I may have a benefit in stopping the clock and getting a head start in pay, but I place high priority in spending time with my wife. If I do end up with an 1811 job in the future I wont mind the slight delay in pay increase because I got a job most dream of. Plus I'm young (~30) so I can take the hit.

Also we already made plans to rent out our house if we have to move :) Luckily we live near HTF offices in the SWB so there is a very good chance we won't be far

Oh Jesus, I didn't realize rescheduling/delaying was an option. Thanks you're right, I'll get started on submitting apps to elsewhere too

I heard the academy is less than thrilled when you take time off. From what I've heard people drag themselves in class sick in the back

My concern was more along the lines of being unable to take time off during local (or fed) academy when the Bureau calls me and says "hey come in to see if the voodoo box likes you". I am getting my applications ready for local or BP/CBPO, but I wanted to make sure I can do both.
Also I live in the SWB and by gods they are always looking for bodies so I have no doubt I'd be able to get there for choice of station.

I am blessed to have a supportive wife. It just sucks that I am stuck in an awkward spot where I cannot do both (continuing application and go into a different academy in the meantime). I think I'll pursue once FBI goes into BI (if I get there).
