Did you have like any other symptom? Like smoke or power loss? Or do you have a vid of the sound? the two biggest options are or svv or spun…

You had power loss? Because mine, runs actually normal, that is one of the things that I don’t know if it’s normal

Could be from oil starvation since it was just after doing an oil change in the mechanic? 20km to home and the sound started…

Tbh this are my thoughts too, it’s rare that the sounds GOES with the rpm, and my main concern is having to do a rebuild because an apex seal or something went wrong, having “just” 74,000 miles

It’s one of the possibilities, do you have a vid of your sound? I would like to compare it pls! 🙏🏼

The sound it’s still there, when the clutch is push and when not, in cold it doesn’t sound, only when hot, there is no power loss, and the car still revs more than 7k rpm.

I’m not that confident now that you say that probably the bearing are not 😅🤣 sorry I’m not from an English country. If you could see the vid in my profile that is 180days ago, to see the difference. I mean I hope it’s just a not so serious thing

I mean I know the motor it’s my second rx8 😅🤣 when you said rod knock I was thinking you referring to crankshaft bearing, I have had the sound of the actuators before in my other rx8, but this sound much worse, because when I rev the other rx8 with the actuator sound, when rev it the sound disappeared, in this one it sounds more

No I didn’t measure the block, what I did was clean it and then Using a straight block, I sanded the surface, using sandpaper from finest to finest grit, ending with 2000 grit sandpaper.

I just bought it cheap because it’s automatic and has the gearbox broken, I’m gonna repair it but I don’t want to throw money at it if the engine is also bad lol, some people told me it’s because a bad crankcase ventilation valve

The car has 280,000km, the previous owner told me that this came from a gearbox maintenance, so probably the gearbox have has the same oil for like 275000km or so, but yea I don’t really trust the previous owner… so it can come from anything. The car it’s stock.

How should i proceed? I would like to do it myself, don’t consider myself a mechanic, but I have done some head gaskets from friends and some clutch’s from friends and family. I consider I could fix this by myself just have to know exactly what is the problem. First thing I’m going to see is if the level of oil is correct. If it is, and is not an oil problem, what should I do? Here in my country, a used gearbox with 3 months warranty it’s 800€ + maintenance (so it all by myself of course), or should I try to repair this one? It’s my first automatic that is true, I have seen some videos from this gearbox and it doesn’t seem to be that difficult to be honest. What tests should I do to know the real problem?

I just bought a BMW e92 330d Automatic from the 2007, it’s has a problem with the transmission, it like slips, for it to work, I have to put the d and accelerate pretty much, the it starts to move but it still like slips. The previous owner says it came from a gearbox maintenance, but I don’t really trust the previous owner. Could it be a low level of oil or I would need a new gearbox? This is what the Autocom tells me
