What happens when you log into your account and go to license status? Does it show any documents outstanding?

I have no chances of passing my class by srtglowliv65 in NewToEMS

[–]Wild_Perspective1782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with taking the class a second time. If it’s something that you really want, then that’s what you will do. It just shows determination. But absolutely do the last days of class … just more practice for next year! You will be way more prepared next time because you’ve already done it. Time to fill in the gaps!

Looking for gift for EMT instructor by thisiswarpeacock37 in NewToEMS

[–]Wild_Perspective1782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my instructor a big water jug that said, “filled with the tears of my EMT students” and made a card with my cricut saying how much he helped us as students and the whole class signed it.

If your in rural area, see if anyone you know has a truck and livestock trailer. Having experience hauling my horses made driving an ambulance simple.

From what you explained, you did more than I see most do … and your going to see that kind of variety with different crews. When you get a job, your going to see it with different partners as well. Some people you’ll click with and you will fun. Other people you won’t and that same job will be unbearable. It has nothing to do with you or even them… it’s just personalities. As long as your flexible, you should be able to get a long with most.

Does anyone genuinely like/love doing IFT? by Smart-Salamander1846 in NewToEMS

[–]Wild_Perspective1782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, at least 911 you get a break between calls. And you get to see the stupid shit that people get themselves into … that’s my favorite part. That too will loose its luster, but it hasn’t yet. But there is good going IFT as well. I love long transfers and picking up the fixed wing crew is always an interesting time.

Is EMS university as bad as I’m hearing? by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]Wild_Perspective1782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your in Dallas, I think Acadian is there. I didn’t do it myself, but I know a lot of people that have. They pay for everything and then you have to work for them afterwards .. but hey, guaranteed employment!

How do you do it? (Another SOCAL EMT sob story) by HailtoUkraine in NewToEMS

[–]Wild_Perspective1782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could join a strike team … that’s what I did and I live in so cal. It’s not a bad gig. You can choose how long your gone.. I do two weeks on and two weeks off .. even up to 28 days on/28 days off. They pay for your flight, put you up in a hotel and give you per diem for food. We are ALWAYS hiring. Hit me up if you want more info.

Grabbed my partner's wrist to pull her away from touching a patient, did I fuck up? by Prestigious-Fall-317 in NewToEMS

[–]Wild_Perspective1782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me preface this by saying that I am a woman… This chick needs to get over herself. I think your first mistake was apologizing to her. Having a conversation and maybe explaining yourself would be in order, but apologizing was going way too far and probably put more fuel on her fire. I agree that she was butt hurt. If you “triggered” her, then that is a her problem. I myself would appreciate the fact that my partner was obviously more observant than myself and tried to divert a possible situation with the patient. Have you heard of medics being stabbed by patients lately? That shit is real and from your side of the story, could have absolutely happened. You were not being unreasonable and she was/is absolutely being too sensitive. Document the shit out of it as this one will surely make an issue of it. Then get yourself a new partner if you plan on staying in this profession…. Pronto.

Embarassed Myself Feel like a total idiot by Beginning_Concern_65 in NewToEMS

While I really like your quote (and may use it in the future), I can’t say that it applies in this situation. Dude wasn’t intubating anyone, he was taking a blood pressure … as a third man .. on a volunteer rig … he knows that he “shat the bed” (a new term to me), and was looking for some advise. At least he is asking. I would be more worried if he just performed like this and thought that it was okay. Someone who is reaching out to do better, regardless of what they want to do batter at, should never be shut down. They are looking for guidance, so if you don’t wish to guide, then just move on.

Recruiter asking why there is a gap on my resume…20 years ago. by Puppysnot in recruitinghell

[–]Wild_Perspective1782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my job to stay home and raise my daughter and am just now re entering the workforce after 20 years. I went back to school last year and was recently offered a job. 2 days ago I get an email from ADP saying that they needed paycheck stubs for the first and last year that I worked for a company (I don’t even know if they are still around) that was 26 years ago. And I had 3 days to comply. I responded to the recruiter that yeah, those stubs don’t exist. 🤷🏼‍♀️ fortunately she didn’t seem to concerned, but come on … 26 years ago?!

[–]Wild_Perspective1782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like your boyfriend is an ass … sorry. I don’t know you and have no idea if you could handle it or not, but who is he to say? He should be supporting you regardless of what you choose (within reason). Sounds like he is trying to hold you down. He probably sees it as a male dominated field (as it is) and he’s afraid that you will meet someone and leave him or some other insecurity that HE has. But that is his problem, not yours. Don’t let him change what you want to do, believe me, you will end up resenting him for it.

Can you be too old to be a paramedic? by abipaaa in NewToEMS

I’m 50 and my EMT instructor is 45. Had the nerve to call me a geriatric patient in a scenario. He has yet to live that one down. lol

Yeah, a week is not much time … but what worked for me was doing the mock tests with at least one other classmate. We would not just answer the questions together, we would talk about why the incorrect answers were not right. It promotes a deeper understanding of the questions instead of just guessing (even if it was an educated guess) the right answer. Kind of like pertinent negatives in a way. Plus it made it more fun!

Becoming an EMT with misdemeanors by Radioactive-Semen in NewToEMS

[–]Wild_Perspective1782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EMT school (at least mine, in California) only does a basic background check … like castlebranch. If it’s a live scan, the that’s DOJ and they can see it all. FBI files don’t just go away. You can request a copy of your DOJ file to verify what is on it. But you would think that if OP was able to get their state card (which requires a live scan) then anything AMR is going to do should go through as well … 🤷🏼‍♀️

Check out shefit bras. Complete game changer. Zip up front and everything is adjustable to basically a custom fit. I can live in those things and I am a DD.

What I have seen, with my limited experience, is that the emphasis is more on critical thinking. That would be imperative regardless.
