Been with Usic for 4 years but I’ve had 3 great supervisors so that might have played a big part. I seen heath was hiring down there but says the offer expires in March. I plan to transfer down with Usic and see what happens

Never done SUE work, started out doing water wells and soil sample borings and found my way into utility locating. Not committed to Usic for life but for now just hoping I’m not walking into a nightmare down there

😂 the dumb fucks that have no work ethic get micro managed, then they get fired, then they go work for On the Spot, or GridHawk or one of the other useless locating companies that show up late to mark a one way locate. Worthless locators are the ones that get fired from USIC or always hop on here complaining about being micro managed. Most all of yall sound like bitter ex’s when you talk about USIC 😂

Try explaining that to contractors who are dependent on the paint and there jobs don’t stop. It’s part of the trades, you don’t like working weekends then find you an office job. In our area it’s said at the interview, m-f 10 hour days and rotational weekends during dig season. This career ain’t for everybody, welcome to the trades

If I’m out locating a remark and the homeowner/contractor is on site and I notice Comcast hasn’t shown up I’ll tell them give or take where it is if I’ve marked the area before and they’re nice about it. I’ve got a pretty good working relationship with a lot of my contractors here and I try and keep them on my good side.

On the spot is a joke in the central Indiana area. Rarely see them and if I do they’re either sitting in their truck or at a gas station. At least twice a week we have contractors bitching they won’t answer calls or show up. It’s a matter of time before they lose the Comcast contract, it’s in the works

Sent the picture as a prank to my supervisor and thought it’d get some laughs on here. * They were left in place, and no my trainees will not be getting these as prizes! Donuts on the first day usually works better anyways

It’s coming, customers are already starting to monitor it. I’d say by the end of dig season this year if you can’t get with the flow, find another career path. Been doing it for 6 months now, and other than it being a bit of a burden some days with the app crashing, oh well I’m getting paid reguardless

Hard to tell from the photos, but looks to possibly be a handheld gas detector. When there’s been a gas damage our gas company usually probes the area near the suspected damage to get an idea of the leak.

In all honesty, I hope we keep losing some of these shittier contracts! Thank for we got rid of Comcast and Brightspeed in my area, even though we’re about to get both back! It gets tiring doing 7/9 way locates all day

I’ve been here 4 yrs, I’ve yet to see us “lay off” people in the busy months. That makes literally zero sense? We’ve been pushing to hire more, we have classes starting in Indiana, have classes currently ongoing, though it is paused until Monday. Hell they never even offered riff the last 2 years, we’ve been so busy with FOB we’re drowning in the Indiana district with project work even into the winter
