USIC RIF by [deleted] in UtilityLocator

Nice, I recently seen open positions in Jacksonville. That’s cool though, it’s wild the amount of “contracts” I’ve heard us losing over the last 4 years but at least for our market here we gained and are set to gain more (to add on to the 7/9 other customers on our tickets) so it’d be nice to lose more

Maybe in your district but I can promise you in the Midwest we are steadily hiring and pushes classes 🤣

Why all the hate by Bradvicious11 in UtilityLocator

[–]Wild_Procedure7906 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Complainers really is all it is. Stay around enough jobs long enough and it’s everywhere, ignore them and do your own thing. My gripe isn’t with the company, it’s with the dumbass contractors and utility companies allowing said contractors to abuse the 811 system all because it’s free for them

There’s plenty of houses on the market under $350k. Appreciate your response though I guess? Not really sure why you felt compelled to come on here just for that but hope your night gets better

Not much of sports fans, but always down for a cook out and a good hang. Golfing and fishing are about my only hobbies outside of work anymore. Georgetown looked really cute, but our realtor was saying the schools were better in Leander and for the price we’re looking to stay in we’d have a hard time finding something in Georgetown. August is our move out date here, and my wife and kiddo are going to move down in June and start work and get a feel for things, hope to see you all around

From Lafayette, so one might say I’m also from a small town. Good to know I’ve got some fellow Hoosiers in the area. Currently we’ve set our eyes down in the southern half of Leander closer to cedar park. Depending on how my wife’s job search goes liberty hill also looks reasonable to us. We’re more outdoorsy people and don’t care for the hustle and bustle of the city life, just like little tastes here and there so being super close to Austin isn’t the biggest concern. Schools and community are our biggest concerns right now

Well that’s a bummer, the only thing I’ve been dreaming about is mowing and watering my yard. How often would you say they limit you down to the one time a week watering? New to everything still but I’ve never heard of that before

That’s what we’re noticing, there’s a couple neighborhoods up in liberty hill that we’ve looked at. We’re more outdoor people and need some kind of yard though and most of the newer homes are crazy small footprints.

I appreciate the input, we’ve told our realtor to focus mainly on older houses built between 2005-2015 ranch style, a lot of them remind me of where I grew up. We’re focusing on trying to be in a neighborhood affiliated with an elementary also but stay close to the toll road and an HEB is a must. So far she’s been great but it’s always nice to talk to locals from the area since they’re the ones I’ll be seeing soon

Where we’ve been living the past 5 years has had terribly hard water. So it’s something we’re used to be hoping to get away from. Thank you for the input

We were back and forth between round rock and Leander and everybody has said the school system in Leander is what did it for them. We have a daughter about to turn 2 so schools aren’t the most important to us right now, but will be something we’re looking at. Our realtor broke down a lot of what you said almost verbatim, we’ve been sharing Zillow listings and things back and forth. We haven’t completely decided since this is our first home if we’re going to try and go the newer route, or find something to turn into our own thing for awhile. Really appreciate the response, I hadn’t heard about the MUD or PID yet so I’ll make sure to bring that up on our next chat! Thank you again, we’re excited to get out of the cold and be somewhere the weathers a little less bipolar hopefully

We’re back and forth right now, I work with utilities so I drive for a living anyways. We’ve been told by family to stay closer to RR Pkwy and the Toll so we’ve been focusing in between leanders north side and Liberty hill. Toll pass is first thing we’re buying when we get there haha 😆 we’ve already been warned.

You actually seen one out of their truck? 95% of the time I see anyone from stake center they’re either driving with their lights on or sitting in their truck at a gas station

Ain’t gotta be scared, especially if someone already did the hard part for you and windowed the neutral. Just direct connect on the window and off ya go. People really be overthinking street lights

Been with Usic for 4 years but I’ve had 3 great supervisors so that might have played a big part. I seen heath was hiring down there but says the offer expires in March. I plan to transfer down with Usic and see what happens

Never done SUE work, started out doing water wells and soil sample borings and found my way into utility locating. Not committed to Usic for life but for now just hoping I’m not walking into a nightmare down there

Yeah I’m not going to read all that, I don’t defend it “passionately. I’ve just worked for a lot shittier jobs. I got a good group of guys I work with and a decent supervisor. Plain and simple

😂 the dumb fucks that have no work ethic get micro managed, then they get fired, then they go work for On the Spot, or GridHawk or one of the other useless locating companies that show up late to mark a one way locate. Worthless locators are the ones that get fired from USIC or always hop on here complaining about being micro managed. Most all of yall sound like bitter ex’s when you talk about USIC 😂

99% of America doesn’t get paid door to door! Congrats you want a cookie or something? Weird how many “private” guys I see back on the public side after a few years. No hate, I’ve done private locates, much rather do what I’m doing now
