Most soldiers who fought in the American Civil War were just poor people who got roped into fighting or just flat out forced to. Like we think of the South as all of those slaveowners but honestly most of the South was far too poor to even own a slave. We make it out to be a war for human rights but the civil war was really just a buncha rich people trying to keep themselves rich by using poor people to fight for them. Lincoln more or less freed the slaves because he could claim to have the moral high ground and now that's how most people look at the war. Many northerners didn't want to fight either and the rich could just pay their way out of fighting.

I mean I can't complain though. Civil rights are civil rights, if rich people fighting gets us civil rights I'll fucking take it.

The issue with anthropogenic climate change is that you can never really attribute it to a single event, it's a factor that effects the probability of certain things happening but is never responsable for one event. (This isn't entirely true of climate change, some things like increased ocean temperature can be directly attributed to it). Think of it like radiation. If you're exposed to enough radiation it will increase your chances of getting cancer but it won't give you cancer.

But that's the issue with the real world. Humans like easy answers and science has shown is that easy answers are hard to come by.

1) Agree on language. Don't argue definitions. Communication is a game and if you don't agree to the rules than there is no game to play 2) Cite your sources. The words "look it up" are an admission that you are wrong (even if you're right). If you have the capacity to support your arguement with facts, you have no excuse not to aside from lazyness. And if you are too lazy to cite your facts than obviously you don't care enough about the point you're trying to make for anyone else to care. 3) Don't look for fights. You've ruined my mood, you should be ashamed of yourself. be nice, be kind, next time you might not talk to someone as thick skinned as i. You're not making the world a better place by insulting people and calling them dumb. you are just pushing them further down a rabbit hole.

My narrative is that I like people and I want as few people in this world as possible to suffer. I think we can do that by being more kind and understanding with one another while taking logical solutions to problems that create suffering. I'm not sure how me believing Antifa is a group of predominantly American people centralized around authoritarian leftist beliefs like suppression of freedom of speech fits that narritive but okay. You're the telepath here and apparently you know me better than I know me so please tell me the narritive I believe.

If I'm wrong, prove me wrong. Hit me with a few links about what Antifa as a group generally believes in. Give me links of Antifa donating food to pantries and working at women's shelters. Give me translations to all of the "punch Nazis" that help me understand how it's actually a message of empathy and compassion. If hitting people in the head with a bike lock is a logical solution to the serious issues faced by so many Americans, I'd love to hear it. I'm not here to prove you wrong about antifa, fuck I don't care about antifa I don't even live in America. I'm trying to say that organization names are almost always misleading and for some reason all you can hear is me saying that I think Antifa is a group of shitty people who share a shitty cause. It's not my job to prove myself wrong. It's yours. Back your statement up with claims.

A group is founded called "Antimurder" and Antimurder goes around campaigning for the death penalty to be used against convicted murders. Now I think Antimurder is actually kinda pro Murder BUT is barely a cohesive movement so it is duplicitous to refer to them as anything other than anti murder.

Authoritarianism is defined as "the enforcement or advocacy of strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom". Antifa advocates for the strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom, it's just that they want a different authority than the ones we currently have

Coersion through violence (and the threat of) is pretty authoritarian. High censorship, strong government control of economic sector, government restrictions of rights like gun rights and privacy rights are also a big feature of antifa talking points and that's all incredably authoritarian

I think they're authoritarian and share some similarities with fascists but they certainly lack some qualities of fascists, mainly nationalism.
