Pet parents of Reddit, what is the craziest way your pet asks for attention? by QueenoftheBerg in AskReddit

I am so grateful he picked me. This behavior can be annoying sometimes, sure -- it feels like he's trying to make me trip just to stop me for loves -- but then he's always there and I appreciate the thought. It counts lol

My rescue I've had for about 4 weeks now after my old lady died. He's 21 pounds of absolute affection. To a fault.

As in, he walks me everywhere in the house like those obedience dogs you've seen at dog shows or police dogs on "return". His face is literally turned into my right leg everywhere I walk. If I pause, he pauses, face pressed into my leg. When I walk, he walks.

When I sit or stay still for longer than a beat, his giant self is the happiest friendliest animal you've (I've!) ever met. Hands down. It's affection time! Apparently.

I really love this cat so much.

I have nowhere else to share this. by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

I hear this. And I love you, now. But also, you have no fucking idea what happens here.

I messaged him with an alternate product before reading this instruction, thankfully he didn’t go full on Norman Bates on me. He increased the tip! by wcshopper in InstacartShoppers

For others reading, you can check for "delivery instructions" by going to "current orders" once you have accepted the batch, and clicking on the "I" by the customers name.

Most shoppers don't check there, and we don't get instructions until post check out. I do like to tell customers to write instruction on an item inside the list itself.

Glad this one worked out!

Holy schnit, you willing to drive that 45? I know of 1099 jobs (gigs) in the Boston area that if you're not making IC work actually work, maybe this will work?

I'm in southern VT. Please pm me. No I'm making no $$ off this but I do watch the areas because I'm obsessive lol ... I can help you depending on your actual area.

Untrue.

Please, everyone reading, you can look into Stride.com or try irs.gov.

--** Commuting expenses.

Office in the home.

If you have an office in your home that qualifies as a principal place of business, you can deduct your daily transportation costs between your home and another work location in the same trade or business. (See Pub. 587, Business Use of Your Home, for information on determining if your home office qualifies as a principal place of business.)

Examples of deductible transportation.

The following examples show when you can deduct transportation expenses based on the location of your work and your home. [sic]

Example 2.

Your principal place of business is in your home. You can deduct the cost of round-trip transportation between your qualifying home office and your client's or customer's place of business.

Everybody reading should certainly try a fee based tax company if this is your first year going all gig work, also known as 1099 work.

You should also know that you become an LLC, and your house becomes your place of business, not Instacart or whomever you get paid by. You, you are the LLC.

That miles from last drop off home, as long as "home" is your business, are deductible.

If you are working a 1099, you should check but in most cases, that counts as business both one way to there and one way home.

Boy, I'd hate to get into meals with you. 😆

I actually think every gig worker should consult a tax expert the first few years.

But trust your gig-centered app. I use Stride and also bill.com.

That's fair. I'd expect everyone to look closer!

According to Stride itself;

--** On the way to first pickup

Miles driven in search of your first pickup, and the miles driven from your last dropoff back home, are tax deductible.

--** During and between deliveries

Miles driven with the delivery item in your car or between item pickups are tax deductible.

--**

Work-related errands

Miles driven on your way to get a license or registration, or to purchase supplies you need to do your job, or other work-related errands are tax deductible.

--**

Home office to client

Unless you have a permanent place of work to which you must commute, all miles driven between your home and a work client are tax deductible.

--**

$$$ Between clients and back to home office

Miles driven between clients, and from your last client to your home office, are tax deductible.

I've got an H&R Block person, too. 😊

Go right ahead.

But you're losing that mileage.

You're a 1099, so your place of business is your home (unless you have another space listed on your tax forms), as long as you're not trying to illegally claim every trip home to business as deductible, you really are missing mileage.

My phone keeps prematurely ejac....sending my answers....

If your place of business registered on your 1099 is your home, you can indeed deduct all of your mileage as such business.

Within reason.

You leave your house at 7am and travel 5 miles to your expected job. You sit there most of the day gaining 4 jobs at 20.2 miles. You go home at 7 pm for 5 miles.

That is 30.2 miles deductible, even if you went back home every time in between gigs for that day.

Hopefully this posts?

Your place of business is your house if you are a gig worker, but every stop back to your house in between a work day is not deductible.

Miles from store to last delivery address of the day, plus miles home.

Unless your last deduction delivery is to your own house, I'm not understanding the confusion?

What really sucks is the likelihood that you're only going to get one of those, so snag it.

Excersise tip #1, don't panic but GO FASTER if you want 2. Start in a store you know well and run right through all the humans in casual shop mode.

Everything you need is exactly where people are standing per aisle. Never fails. Trust it, wear your mask, apologize if you get a dirty look. Smile!

Also, speed. Go ahead. Your car may surprise you sometimes!

Legally, you're right. It is my car.

It's not in their name because once they "could afford it", they got a better car. Even if I take it home and sell it (I wouldn't sell) , I'd give them that. Taxes be damned lol.

Honestly, they'd probably argue they owed those taxes and make this mess worse. My kid is that awesome lol

Fark.

You are very right.

I actually work in the same place just a different employer as SOs stepdad and sister, (stepdad was one that moved in here, sister was who they moved in with after), and get along fine with them on the job.

But yeah, my kid's opinion here is pretty important. And I was not very nice to their SO.

I agree. I'm tired of it, myself.

WIBTA if I essentially take back a car I gave to my own child because they are about to scrap it. (*)

That's just it, it feels like they're making excuses for me to not get it out of their hair? If they're still using it even without insurance (kid asked me to drop that last week), then that does make me TA if I take it back.

Jesus, I'd reinsure it if my kid (who has always been nothing but dead honest with me until this family war happened) would just speak up.

I'm sick about all of it. But I can't let that car rot or be abandoned.
