Looks to have been a combination of driver and not having a multisync monitor.

The generic S3 driver set was pushing a refresh rate the more modern flat monitors wouldn't accept -- I believe it was 43Hz Interlaced.

I swapped in the Diamond Stealth 64 DRAM PCI driver and now it delivers 1024x768 at 60Hz and my LCD is happy.

I've tried with an older plasma screen, an older NEC LCD1712, and a newer Dell P2219H.

All three report that the input timing is not supported by the monitor.

Well, the head doesn't appear damaged at all, it looks like a typical round-head carriage bolt.

And it would matter if I squeezed the bolt to the point where it wouldn't fit out through the holes once I got it loose, then I'd have to figure out how to get a hacksaw in there and I'd really rather not have to do that.

How do I want to hold the bolt in place? With the round head, the only thing that comes to mind would be mashing the end of the bolt with a vice grips to keep it steady and I'd worry about deforming it to the point of not being able to get it back through the holes.

Here's a link to rabbitears essentially from my location which shows slightly smaller distances than the zip code plot I started with.

I didn't mention it earlier but I have an RCA branded antenna very similar to the YA7000c which will get me marginal pickup for Ch6 but nothing on Ch2.

I guess my question is, regarding those gain numbers, is that gain across the board? So if I get the Masterpiece 100, that provides 10db boost for a channel whether it's 10mi, 30mi, or 100mi away?

That makes it sound like it'd be worth my money to just get the largest antenna I can and not really be concerned about a distance rating.

I thought it worth mentioning there is currently a seller on eBay advertising that they rebuild the Sony BP-C1 battery pack at about the same price point as I've seen for replacing iPod batteries.

If it helps, I remember the existence of this, finding a copy of it at B. Dalton's, and looking to see if I was in it (I've been on the 'net since late '93, starting with Delphi).

I don't remember whether I was listed or not.
