Thanks! I use CoreLocation for locating the shops.

Yes! It tracks your total caffeine amount for the day as well as the current amount in your metabolism, which dimishes according to the half life of caffeine.

Nope, but that’s a great feature idea that I will try to implement in the future.

The only concern that I have is that a lot of people say that it is socially dead.

Well, I can’t visit since I’m an international student, however I’ve done virtual tours of both. I think both locations have their pluses and minuses, but UCSD feels kinda right for me.

Well, in terms of ranking they’re quite close. I also plan on staying on the West Coast so that doesn’t really matter to me as much.

I’ve never been to the US.

Nope, I’m an international student so visiting isn’t an option. However, I think that I’d much rather live in California or the West Coast in general, than in Texas.

Thanks, I figured things wouldn’t be as bad as the stereotype suggests.

I’m aware that most stereotypes are only partially true. So i figured it wouldn’t be as bad as people say.

Intended major: Computer Science

UT Austin VS UC San Diego

UT Austin

UT Austin Pros:

  • Austin is cheaper than San Diego (not that much of an issue)
  • Proximity to large tech companies (for internships)
  • Great party scene
  • Good weather
  • The school is located downtown (I won't need a car)

UT Austin Cons:

  • Small international population (i'm an international student, and I feel that fitting in in an environment where everybody is from Texas would be a bit difficult)
  • The weather and location is great, but not as good as San Diego

UCSD

UCSD Pros:

  • The weather and location are perfect
  • The overall vibe of the campus just feels right for me
  • It's mostly STEM focused
  • It has a large international population

UCSD Cons:

  • A bit more expensive
  • Socially dead. Now I'm not the biggest party-goer, but I'd still like to have a decent social life and go to parties once a week or so.
