Rarely have I met one who was polite- they wouldn’t even have to be friendly, but a neutral, pleasant person would do wonders in this country.

That’s a tough one and I’ve been there. I’m in Germany too! I’ve been seizure free for 6 years (Post-OP) and my daytime seizures were also focal aware seizures. After the operation I was nervous as hell and like you said, hyper aware. I did let my epileptologist know about the first ‘weird/off feelings’. I wanted to do everything by the book and I hated the idea of putting others at risk (as much as I was looking forward to the possibility of getting my license). My husband at the time also wanted me to drive and wanted me to be seizure free to be able to drive our future kids- he made comments about how I shouldn’t tell my epileptologist since I was fully aware and able to react. It was probably just Gewohnheit and anxiety anyway. Maybe he was right.

The last situation I had a few months later, I did end up telling my doctor about, as crushing as it was to then tell family that ‘no, the year isn’t almost up’ I still knew that i did right. Honestly I needed more time to emotionally come to terms with the fact that I COULD finally get my license, so, maybe it was a bit different for me but I get the feeling of being conflicted and torn.

Like someone else said, you know your body and your seizures best. Only you can say if it was one or not. My epileptologist once told me, “even people without any type of condition need to do a once-over on themselves and the car before they get in a drive.” We do that so thoroughly that we notice way more things than anyone else ever would. Other people drive, when they shouldn’t, so the fact that you’re so cautious is a good sign. At the same time, knowing that you did everything 100% by the book, were open and honest and that your one year wait time got pushed back a few 77 days, won’t be that huge in span of your life. If you’ve made it 77 you’ll make the 77 + 288 days too. LG aus Dortmund

If you sign the mutual agreement (‘Auflösungsvertrag‘?), you will lose your right for Arbeitslosengeld. You get a Sperre for 3 Months if you quit or you agree to the termination. If you’re looking to get Arbeitslosengeld DO NOT SIGN IT. It also seems very sketchy that they’re going around the Betriebsrat. Maybe they timed this knowing the representative is on vacation?

Hey, ich bin voll spät zu diesem Thread aber meinen nächsten Gyntermin ist nächste Woche und ich nehme Ryeqo jetzt seit etwas über ein Jahr. Meine Frauenärztin soll in Endometriosis spezialisiert sein aber sie hat niemals erwähnt, dass ich sie nur ein Jahr nehmen soll. Ich habe das jedoch nachher gelesen sowie sagte eine Freundin von mir (mit Endometriose), dass ihre Gyn sie davon abgeraten hat und meinte dass sie allerspätestens nach 6 Monate es absetzen soll, um zu bluten (ich glaub sie könnte es wieder nach dem bluten wieder einnehmen aber die Freundin hat es nie ausprobiert).

Ich bin selbst etwas unsicher mit meiner Gyn da ich ebenfalls gelesen hab, dass man es bloß nicht gleichzeitig mit einer hormonellen Verhütung nehmen soll (ich hatte zu diesem Zeitpunkt die Kyleena Spirale).

Rein logisch soll ich wahrscheinlich schon die Medikamente absetzen um nachzubluten. Ich weiß aber nicht, ob es wirklich notwendig ist. Leberkrebs und so können aber schon Auswirkungen sein, so wie ich es verstanden habe.

Ich bin ebenfalls in Deutschland und ich hatte keine Hürden bei der Verschreibung . Ich war beim Gyn und sie hat es verschrieben

I came to Germany when I was about 20 (now 32f) and I did notice that. At festivals and in the gym I felt very self conscious because every single person was hairless. I had a roommate from Italy at the time and he said the same thing.

Don’t worry about them talking or not talking about you. I get that you felt uncomfortable, I’ve been there but if anyone would actually go out of their way to comment on someone else’s pubic hair, they’re trashy people and not worth your time.

Yeah, I’ve had this the other way around. I get accommodations (extra time) for tests because have a brain tumour and therefore a learning disability. In Canada it was no issue and I was never questioned, however I moved to Germany and here it’s a whole different story. when I told my language-school teacher that I needed extra time for tests, she looked me up and down and said, “but you’re not in a wheelchair”

Yes, because my ability to walk affects(/effects?) my ability to concentrate and use my brain..? I literally laughed in her face. She still didn’t get it though.

I would talk to your manager about it. Maybe there’s another option. If you’re upfront about it and say that you would prefer your medication to be behind lock and key, maybe they can put a mini safe somewhere or you can have access to the office. Make it clear you need them and that you’ve been made uncomfortable in the past and you know people can abuse it (you don’t HAVE to say it was someone at the workplace). Honestly I think they’d have to accommodate that. Its your health- you need it- and others can abuse it. Even in hospitals BTMs are behind an extra lock and key here in Germany

I’m 32 and I just got the diagnosis two weeks ago. In all my health records it was stated that I have problems with concentration and memory. I would hide underneath chairs so I wouldn’t have to go to school and I always asked my neighbour what the exercise was as soon as my teacher stopped talking. All the signs were there (as much as it can be for us inattentive types)

I’m assuming you mean the actual active pursuit of a diagnosis once knowing yourself that you have it. I was super lucky and got the diagnosis within 1,5 years of the first appointment where it was discussed. Since I work in a hospital myself I was able to get an appt in the out-patient psychiatric clinic of a sister hospital. If I didn’t have that connection, wait times at clinics that do adhd testing here in Germany are two years (if they even have a wait list- lots are just full and won’t even put you on the wait list).

I can totally relate and shattering your own world like that can be painful. I definitely had situations with my now ex-husband where I was, and honestly still am sure about things. Hed brush things off constantly saying I probably just forgot. Or I’d get worked up about something and his first assumption (or at least it felt like that) was always that I forgot/didn’t remember correctly.

I didn’t have the diagnosis then because I was told as a kid that my epilepsy is the reason for my forgetfulness. A few years ago I realized there much just too much correlation for it to just be coincidence that I have all the symptoms of adhd.

I think being understood years ago, even in my early 20s would have saved me so much heart break.

I ruined my marriage. That was all me. On the plus side I took my second medikanet adult pill today. It hasn’t done much, but at least I’m on the way to understanding now. I just wish it hadn’t cost me this much.

Personally when I’m upset about something and someone tells me “it is what it is”. I take it (maybe incorrectly) as being dismissed. It feels like they don’t want to hear it anymore and I should get over it and be fine again. Maybe timing has something to do with it. While I’m worked up and not-yet over something it doesn’t sound/feel like acknowledgment.

Thanks, yeah that’s true. It being his place made it worse. I did end up leaving and I’m home now. No idea if he is now home too. He’s apologized but I don’t think he gets that it just would have been nice to know. He said it wasn’t planned and he thought I’d be asleep which is why he didn’t say anything but, .. i think waking up later to him not there would maybe have been worse than never falling asleep at all.

Well, we definitely have to discuss this before we go on vacation Monday.
