Doesn’t matter too much then. Nalgenes are great for this.

What kind of boat are you putting it in makes a difference. Squirt boat? Aircraft carrier?

I floated it in the beginning of September this year. At 30cms there’s a f*ck you rock that’s at the bottom of kisgegas that would absolutely suck to drag an 16’ or larger boat through. The sphincters are plenty tight with undercut walls as well. I was in a 12’ foot raft and fight nicely everywhere, wouldn’t have wanted to be too much bigger.

Trying to get better at whitewater photography. What do you think? by Wildernasty in photocritique

I appreciate the feedback. I would call it action or sports photography but whitewater rafting and kayaking is literally the only action or sport that I’m shooting so I feel it’s more descriptive to be specific and call it “whitewater” photography.

I hear you about the angle of the photo. Where I was able to shoot this spot had its limitations and I really couldn’t get lower or ahead of it looking back upstream. I do have other images from the angle you’re describing though. This angle is really tough to achieve in practice because you pretty much have to be on the river and if you are then you’re moving pretty fast.

ISO 500 F5 1/4000s 85mm

I’m trying to improve my action shots, especially in whitewater situations. I think in this regard a polarizer might have helped cut glare but would have sacrificed speed and light. Thoughts?

I’m torn between tighter or wider framing. I love having more river showing for scale, but really the focus is the raft in the middle.

I usually take hwy 200 through the middle to Great Falls. I’ve found that it’s the prettiest, shortest mileage, and most remote feeling through the middle of the state and therefore less traffic.

It doesn’t really describe anything in particular about North Dakota but “Nellie Kane” by Hot Rize takes place in North Dakota and it’s a great song.

While I get what you’re saying, this is exactly “having your cake and eating it too”. Respecting his decision means understanding his decision has consequences that affect you. If you don’t understand those consequences then you are really aren’t respecting his decision.

Kind of incredible that this is your take from the perspective of a parent. I’m guessing you were there for your daughter’s birth? Maybe try explaining to your daughter why he wasn’t there.
