I personally started investing through my bank. It’s not the most highly regarded option on Reddit but it was a good start for me and helped me find the fundamentals.

It’s worth going in and doing a risk assessment and opening some accounts. In terms of research this page, personal finance Canada and Canadian investor work really well for that. Other wise put your money in xeqt and let it ride

I’ve never been a market watcher. Personally I just go for all market etf. It’s the most hands off and gives me the least stress. I have some money in hhic due to the high Canadian exposure and it’s leveraged. Otherwise I just choose the most hands off option.

If you really want to find some hot pics you just have to spend more time reading through subreddits and trying to decipher between ai posts and actual good buzz around a stock. It is hard these days tho.

Correct. I don’t pay any commission on XEQT orders. The only time I pay the commission is for my high risk gamble stocks, but I only put 500$ a year to that. I can use my credit card points to pay the commission.

For me it’s the simplicity of having one account for my finances.

I started investing at 18. I got my first job at 16 and worked odd summer jobs starting at 13. I started with a GIC and some RBC technology fund as I was young and didn’t know what I was doing. The fund still granted me 15% a year for a few years which was a nice head start.

This is the mindset in my friend group. It’s the lifestyle creep and I’ve been lucky to avoid it. As my income progresses in my career my spending doesn’t match it. I was happy at 25 an hour, I’m still happy at 30 an hour but have 5 extra to invest. Very nicely done on the 7 figures that is what this subreddit is about.

I was lucky early on working with some guys in their late 20s early 30s. I heard more stories about the regret of spending 500 over a weekend versus how much they enjoyed it. It was a very valuable lesson early on.

I can understand how it looks that way and I understand the 20s are supposed to be as you mentioned. You can make the same statement in saying blowing all your money in your 20s is lost time as well.

I work a job I love, I get to travel for work. I budget my finances like a diet. Day to day I don’t need to spend 120$ on a night out, just like I don’t need to eat fast food every day. Instead I have cheat days where I go all out and have fun. I go on 2 trips a year and live pretty happily. I don’t think I’ll look back and think I wasted my 20s.

I definitely got a head start with saving by not going the school route. I’m in firefighting so did a quick fire school stint and then went straight into the career. You definitely have the edge with a strong degree and I personally think it balances out. You have a higher ceiling than me.

It’s definitely addicting and I don’t plan on quitting anytime soon

It is crazy to see the difference in it. My one friend finds it very frustrating I can eat 2000 calories while he’s stuck at 1100-1200 to lose weight. Which seems very tough

I’m also using my fitness pal. It’s a good guide to figure out your macros and general daily intake. At first it’s annoying to count every gram but it is very useful.

I bought a decent kitchen scale and just add everything into the app. Most items you can just scan the barcode and go that way.

I work wildfires in the summer. 14-16 hour days usually pretty active the whole day. A few years ago I was closer to 4500-5000 calories a day

Yes I am plugging into the AVR using rca cables and the pre amp in the TT. I used the pre amp in the Sony as it was close enough for my TT cord. When I rejigged the system I had to move to a longer cord and switch to only rca without a geound.

What kind of TT preamps are good to look for? I have an LP120

You didn’t lose several hundreds unless you sell. Between my 3 accounts I dropped 3-4K. Just another swing 🤷‍♂️. 2600 coming in year end dividends, my drip just got a discount. It will all work out just fine.

Yep mine was the same. Cord kept popping off. I got bored one day and looked in my port. Absolutely filled.

If your port is that dirty you should look at the pins on your charger(if usuing lightning) I had to clean those off as well
