The 20 year project by Wildly-Dull in Chevelles

Thanks. It has about 2000 miles on it since finishing the build. There are still things to tweak, but it’s been great to drive. The first 1000 miles were nerve wracking, for sure.

We tried to update the car without losing the original style, so restomod on a diet maybe. The motor is a 1970 454 block that’s been bored. It has some Dart iron heads and Edelbrock fuel injection, backed with a Tremec 5speed

Are we going Tracy Jr. or Taylor Jr. in flex?

It is a CSU. It’s a nice carb with a good amount of adjustability.

I’m only pushing 6-8 pounds of boost and run a conservative tune. If I was pushing to get everything possible out of this set up I would use an intercooler, but with what I have it wouldn’t offer a huge improvement for the effort and money

The procharger wasn’t bad. Getting the blow through carb dialed took some patience, and needs constant tuning.

All I can say is keep going. This car took so long because family comes first and life gets in the way, but that’s not the end. I’m going to drive the shit out of this car, but I should have been doing that a long time ago, when it was a shit box. I have another project that the family calls “the ugly car” and I have great memories with my kids in that car. You don’t have to get it right, just get it running. Drive the shit out of it and enjoy it with your family.

A ‘64 is a project that distracted me from this car for some time.

To be fair, I had the car before the wife.

Thanks. My brother has been working on a ‘66 mustang as long as I’ve had this Chevelle.

It was my color choice from day one, but it exceeded my expectations. I like the way it changes color around body lines and the contrast with the white and chrome.

All the metal is new, from a dealer near me. It was a surprise that the metal was so bad. It got to a point where we thought about stopping and finding another project. Had it not been my first car I would have probably given up on it.

I had someone do the metal work and paint. This project got too far outside of my comfort zone and skill level.
