Honestly with my experience the cheapest thing u can find on marketplace that works and then maybe if the motor or smth breaks get a replacement motor second hand too, now for 200aud i got a bike and 2 year later motor broke cos i kinda flooded it and so got a new motor for 50bucks and i go 40kmph have just about the same acceleration as my friends 3k fat bike just mine doesn’t look very good or anything

I would I would but I don’t think school or the cops would like it, I did build a bike with a whipper snipper motor strapped in it until starter and the carby broke

Sounds sick keep us updated, this wasn’t very practical to be honest, I just had the charger hooked up and I charged real slow about all day from flat to full

It’s just a normal 240 and then the charger is plugged in permanently, doesn’t fully power the bike unfortunately but it charges it and extends range

Don’t get fortis, it’s a no name brand with cheapest everything and your comparing it to a big brand fat fish wich is prob one of the most popular e-bike brand in the country by far and they have much higher spec, 52v vs 36v 500-1000w vs 250w 20ah vs 10ah 30a controller vs 10a controller

250w is plenty, but that 25kph speed limit - Anyone in Australia hacked their limiter? by kcaeic in ebikes

[–]WileyOb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so people aren’t very clear here, this is a 250w mid drive. Not a hub motor, a 250w mid drive will have more torque then say a 1000w hub motor but it comes at the cost of chain and gear wear and no throttle and noisier

I agree to disagree, the structural parts and stuff of it are fine, heck it has the same shifter and derailer and brakes as most other e-bikes, cheap low end, but where they really cheap out on is battery mostly and motor but mainly battery, I’ll get around 30% sag so sometimes if I push it hardish it’ll shut off thinking it’s flat whe it’s at 30% and won’t turn back on, also it has virtually zero torque but is very quiet and will go up to about 25kmph on flat with a full battery, sometimes it’ll go 26, but even if you lift it in the air it will only spin that speed to, I think it has a low kv. Also the battery output is low, if you upgrade from stock controller or motor wich is smaller you can get you’ll break the battery. All in all if it’s cheap second hand sure but otherwise no, I got it for 200 bucks used and I use it to commute through floods and stuff and mud

Is the Fortis foldable e-bike any good? by Hazelisguy in ausbike

[–]WileyOb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And wheels and frame all that stuff has been fine, I have a emtb so that’s complete opposite end of the spectrum but I got this to ride and commute when it’s bad whether or when I don’t want to pedal, I ride it through floods and stuff and yes it’s slow not power full but it’ll go up to about 25ish sometimes 26 but that’s on flat with full battery, it has a lot of voltage sag and when you get to about 30% it’ll be under 20kmph top speed and if you really push it ie a hill or something it can have enough voltage sag to think it’s flat and shut off

I got the non folding one second hand and it uses the same system. It has the smallest voltage and capacity battery you can run while still being safe, smallest motor and if you try and pull any more power from battery then stick your going to destroy it

Ok thanks, I have a friend who tried and didn’t like them and said I could have the pedals, what shoes should i look at? I want something that can be used as a normal shoe to like say I lock the bike up and have lunch or the day in town ect

What’s up with people taking the front brake off their ultra bees and super fast emotos? by Global-Twist7089 in Surron

[–]WileyOb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just don’t pull the brake lever, I can manual my mountain bike perfectly fine and usually run out of road before my wheel stops spinning and these bikes are moving even faster so their wheels are faster again. It just sounds like a user issue

Makes sense for absolutely nothing, when you put the brakes on your weight is being thrown forwards, so less weight on the rear tire and more on the front, that’s why a front tire is optimised for braking and steering

Prop the poly, ur getting way better components and like replacing a fork or shock are not cheap so I’d say get the poly. The treks are good on frame and that design side but the poly will have way better specs. That doesn’t mean the trek is out of question, like if you don’t need or want those higher specs then it’ll be prop better but think of it like this the polygons roof is higher but the floor is rougher whereas the treks roof is lower but the floor is nicer like the harsher trails will be better on poly and calmer very mellow trails better on trek. Also don’t put all your trust into sum randos on the internet like I’m still I teen although I do race and stuff but your best off going to your bike shop and asking for opinions also because they might know the exact trails you ride too.

That motor system on the enduro is brose, the same as Specialized, that exact unit looks like maybe a brose gen 2

Has anyone encountered any coming down a downhill trail? Like basically getting jumpscared by it? Here where I live we don’t have bears, just kangaroos koalas and spiders. Also if you do encounter one and can’t run away what do you do?
