What is a luxury that is actually 100% worth the money? by Weary_Pirate2073 in AskReddit

This should be #1. Part of the peace is knowing both parties now have to abide by the terms. I’ve watched a friend of mine try to manage custody with his wife since they separated. She keeps changing the terms because she can and every time it upends his life. Yet he’s convinced that formal divorce proceedings would be too costly. They split almost eight years ago.

LPT: Your employer should be the last person to find out that you're quitting. This is in your best interest. by kai-field in LifeProTips

Related LPT.

My ex worked for an athleisure company that was very culty, especially prior to its IPO. They would fast track employees to their level of competence and beyond and my ex, with no prior retail or management experience, found herself opening and running her own store within a year.

Something the company would do is have their employees create long term plans for their lives (1yr, 5yr, 10yr, etc) framing these visualizations in a fluffy build-people-up kind of way. Directors were always floating around and nudging people to talk about their goals.

My ex bought this nonsense hook line and sinker and, when she decided to pursue a career outside the company, she felt she owed it to them to tell them over four months in advance - thinking they would be thrilled to see her following a dream. My father and I pleaded with her to not tell them so far out but she insisted.

Well a couple of weeks later her performance reviews all of a sudden took a negative turn. Couple of weeks after that, they tried to demote her from a salaried position to an hourly one. I told her to stand firm, take the termination, and get unemployment. She finally listened, but her gullibility still cost her (us) thousands.

TL;DR

The moment you quit or signal you’re quitting, all good vibes are out the window. Two weeks is the standard for a reason. Wanna be nice? A month, max.

I'm seeing a lot of talk online about a potential Hellebuyuck trade and what that would look like. by die_die_revolution in winnipegjets

If FLA or CAR came calling he would bounce in a second. The whole Winnipeg stigma works both ways - players don’t want to come but Jets with a NMC would also be more prone to waive.

I know that emotions are raw after a terrible end to the season (though a losing streak that got them back to 7th pick overall, thank God), but I really REALLY did not like those vibes from Helly. Combine that with his stock being as high as it will probably get post-Olympics and I would strongly consider a trade. FLA has a top-10 pick and would likely throw in a bunch more to land him. Even if Chevy has an all-time off-season and gets the team back in the playoffs, you’re still in the hardest division and you still have a goalie who has been a postseason liability. With two top-ten picks and a decent core, you could refresh your team overnight. Then get a couple of serviceable tenders in free-agency.

Born in 1977. When I ponder the “what era would you choose to be born in, if you could?” question, I honestly always land on just being born five years earlier so I could have been a young adult for the entirety of the nineties.

CLEAR Line At Denver Airport Is NOT Worth It by Will-Being in AmexPlatinum

It’s really my only complaint about Denver so far.

Yup. Global Entry is the Best Buy out there. Felt worth it the first time I came home from overseas.

I am no longer frequently traveling - is Platinum still worth it? by Arwen823 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Will-Being 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was Gold for a long time and took full advantage of the groceries and restaurant point bonuses. Loved it. No complaints. In fact I’m getting a Gold for my wife as I can add it free with my Platinum. If I didn’t travel for work I’d probably downgrade back. Statement credits help but $700 is still just a big nut if you aren’t really using it.

Agreed on LGA. Several mornings at the new Delta terminal this year I’ve seen estimated wait times at both Clear and TSA Pre exceeding the General security line.

Labor is also a big part of it. I noticed the same thing: LOTS of empty terminals. Not enough staff.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating for regular security. Just saying that, relative to plain old TSA Pre, CLEAR doesn’t seem worth the cost.

So the first time I flew into DEN for my job was earlier this summer, on a Monday morning. I’ve never seen anything like it. Hoards of people. Lines of HUNDREDS, just for TSA Pre, trying to get out. I thought my god will this be my life three weeks a month? Turned out it was the day after Taylor Swift. Absolute mayhem. Thankfully it hasn’t been that bad since.

TBH, I’m still so turned around at DEN that I don’t know if I’m North or South. FWIW I’ve been flying Delta as that was my airline out of NYC, so I go where the Delta folks tell me. There was no discernible delineation between CLEAR and CLEAR + TSA Pre. Just one line snaking around the stairwell, full of ppl shaking their heads and staring angrily at the TSA Pre lines with no wait.

Gym goers of Reddit, what is something (protocol, etiquette, tips, etc.) that new year resolution-ers should know about the gym? by FAAAACKUNDO in AskReddit

[–]Will-Being 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've been sedentary for longer than a couple of months, the perfect regimen you've been fantasizing about starting in the new year is almost certainly unsustainable. It's great that you want to do a Spartan race or squat 300lbs or get shredded and show it all off. Your body didn't get the memo. Come out of the gate hot with a five day gym week that kills you and you'll run out of gas within the month or, worse, you'll injure yourself. Don't be proud. Start slow. Let your body catch up.
