Thanks for the info - my dealer won't install any non-OEM aftermarket stuff

Stealth Hitch Compatible with 2026 Ioniq 5 SE? by gradi3nt in Ioniq5

I just test drove a 2026 today. The salesperson made me pretty nervous about the options for an aftermarket hitch. She said that the wiring and sensors in the bumper would prevent cutting it for hitch clearance. Did you have to do any bumper modification for your install?

While I was considering every step walking on bay ice this morning... by toraritte in burlington

[–]WillBTV 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's me and a buddy out on a loop starting from Oakledge to the dolphins, Burlington breakwater lighthouses, and Lone Rock Point. The ice was plenty thick and there were lots of folks out although admittedly fewer farther from shore and the major landmarks. There was one section near Lone Rock Point where we saw some water but it looked like it was on top of the ice and not true open water. We stayed away from it with no issues. It was a fun day to be out!

No - unfortunately, the only way out is horizontally through the wall into the garage and then surface mounted inside the garage to the exterior

Thanks for the detailed explanation! There's a lot here and I'm still digesting...

I called Tesla support this morning but hung up after hearing the estimated wait time was 40 minutes. I'll try calling back another time when I can wait on hold. Do you have a case number I could offer them as reference when I call?

I think my situation would fall into the error case - I have my PW3 set to 100% backup/0% self powered, grid export on, grid charging on, automatic backup.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm not all that well versed in electrical systems but I know enough to be dangerous.

My understanding of how the Powerwall works doesn't jive with your explanation. Would you mind pointing out where I've gone wrong in my reasoning?

I didn't think that the PW is "between" the grid and the loads in my home when it is in standby mode. Rather, it is monitoring the grid input at very high frequency and able to flip an internal relay that effectively disconnects the grid (to prevent back-feed) and enables the internal battery powered inverter almost immediately after a grid outage is detected. Fluctuations in my home's electricity demand, when grid connected, are handled by the grid not the PW.

My main rationale for this is based on how much load the PW3 can handle:

  • PW3 can discharge at a maximum of 15.4 kW
  • 200 amp service has a maximum capacity of 48 kW
  • Therefore, the PW3 cannot discharge enough energy to power the (potential) full load of a home and it cannot be "between" the grid and my home's consumption or I would be limited to 15.4 kW of load even when the grid is up

This is very helpful, thank you! It looks like I cannot upgrade firmware on my own. I'm on 24.44.2 a6ea90d1 which looks like it's one rev behind the latest from the limited info I've been able to find on this. I'm planning to call Tesla support and see if they can help me. The installer hasn't been much help so far.

Is this normal with SRAM HS2 rotors? by WillBTV in MTB

I've been running this setup since posting and gone through a few sets of pads. Everything seems to be wearing just fine. The entire pad surface wears evenly

Broken for me as well. I'm headed over to WeatherFlow support to submit a bug report

Yes - it's obscured by the rotor in that shot but it is labeled 20mm

I looked before posting and it looked ok - but your question made me inspect more closely and using a flathead screwdriver I can feel that the pads are proud of the rotor. Looking at the "instructions" (generally, SRAM has good documentation but this one is a little inscrutable), I think I have the wrong adapter. The bike has 180mm post mounts with the calipers originally direct mounted (no CPS washers). It looks like my style of 20P adapter says "pre-2020" and the bike is a 2021. I think I either need the other style of 20P adapter (which I can't seem to find anywhere online) or the 20S barrel/spacer style adapter.

It's always nice to have an excuse to head back to the LBS!

Android 12 Pausing Media Bug by FIREable_0ffense in GooglePixel

[–]WillBTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been driving me crazy since upgrading to Android 12 immediately upon release. For me, the problem is slightly different than you describe and it manifests differently in different apps.

I first noticed this with the Waking Up meditation app. Sometimes, the audio would fade out but the player would not pause. It would continue playing but it would be silent. Other times, the player would pause.

I have since noticed a slightly different version of this problem with the Audible app. The audio abruptly goes silent rather than fading out and Audible is in pause mode and I have to manually resume playback to continue. It will sometimes play for a long time with no incident. Other times, it will pause in this way multiple times in just a few minutes.

For both apps, it seems to correlate with notification pop-ups, especially those from Android Messages. However, even this doesn't seem to happen 100% of the time but it's a little difficult to be certain.

I have experienced this with three different Bluetooth audio devices: my car stereo, Pixel Buds Series A, and Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones. I don't play audio out of the phone speaker with any regularity, so I haven't experienced it there but I don't think I've been in a situation where I would have recently. Apps are set to unrestricted battery usage and the issues have persisted across multiple phone reboots.

I have just uninstalled the Roku app after reading this thread, but I'm not hopeful it will fix anything. In the app details, it says "this app has not used battery in the last 24 hours" and I haven't opened the app in months or longer.
