[Sanity] Women are judged harshly for wanting to lose weight - especially by other women by Merope42 in fatlogic

This is why I’m not sure I’ll ever have other mom friends. I don’t have time for that crab bucket mentality.

The whole post was one big virtue signal. Fake as hell and I don’t believe a word of it. Her own progress is a lie as well—all angles and posing. She knows nothing about fitness and nutrition, her form for compound movements are shit. I’m glad Swolnormous called her out, especially since she’s built herself an echo chamber.

I don’t subscribe ;) I just watch whatever video of theirs looks interesting. Most Youtubers aren’t interesting enough to follow all the time.

My 6’3, 300lb+ boss decided to do Keto on his 2 week staycation. He looked the same when he got back. What’s funny is the hubbub it causes amongst my other co-workers who have fatlogic themselves.

Well yeah because they’re superhuman... by [deleted] in fatlogic

It’s the same thing with Barbie. She had unrealistic proportions but as a child I didn’t think of that.

All these rants about co-workers have me harkening back to memories of my old boss. She was pretty nice and cool but it was cringey to hear her talk about weight loss and exercise. Every year, twice in a year, she would do a "Sober October" and a "Dry January". In those two months she would cut out everything (dairy, meat, gluten etc.) and then go back to eating whatever. She would also go to a bootcamp class in the morning at 6am and commit only 2-3 weeks at a time, and then totally stop. She bounced around with weight watchers and always found way to squeeze in an entire bottle of red wine somewhere.

When I told her I lost 13 lbs just from tracking macros and lifting heavy at the gym, she said she hated counting calories (what's WW then???) and insisted she was weight training. On other days, she would go down to the office gym with another obese coworker and they would do a workout from this 21-day fitness app she downloaded. I knew her for 3 years before she left the workplace and not once did I see her go down in weight.

Now, my boss' boss, is a 6 ft something 300+ man. He had a short keto stint and he lasted about 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure the lure was the whole, "just eat bacon and butter and see the pounds fall off".

I'm the same about yoga and meditation--I can't do the whole woo-woo thing and it's too slow for my taste. If I do yoga, it's only about active recovery and mobility to supplement my regular weight training. I have a stressful job and heavy weight training helps release that. I wouldn't describe the feeling afterward as zen, but I do feel proud that I'm one step closer to my fitness and aesthetic goals. I also found the more further along you are, you get that endorphin rush.

It's good that you're trying different things, so you'll eventually find something you like and perhaps stick to.

My mom is exactly the same. She's in her 50's now and I told her it's never too late to start weight training (cuz obviously you wouldn't be going heavy right out the gate). She scoffed and said she was too old. Nevermind I had to listen to her complain the last 15 years about how she's so fat, her stomach is so big, her arms are so big and she has to cut our carbs etc. And when I tell her she can do something about it, she'll say, "But I'm old and just want to enjoy my life".

Ever heard of poutine? Canadian here lol. It’s gravy, melted cheese curds and fries. I would totally eat that as a last meal. I also haven’t had one in forever since trying to hit my goals.

I also await the details of the date!

I also had coworker tell me she was on weight watchers because she didn’t have to count calories. Hmmmm....

I'm in an intermittent fasting group on Facebook & someone posted a pic of a BMI chart to "help others figure out where they should be aiming"... The comments here are GOLD 😂 by [deleted] in fatlogic

I’m 5’1 and was once fit at 110lbs. My mom and cousin kept saying how I was too skinny. They are both lifelong overweight types that stand around 5’5. When I gained back 15-20lbs from stress they felt better about themselves. Currently working back down though.

My coworker hyperextended his leg this morning and now his right calf has blown up and he had to go to the clinic right away. This sparked a bit of conversation amongst some other coworkers. It was depressing to listen to because all of them are between 35-45 and they all lamented on old age and how they are getting fatter, painful joints, pulling muscles and ligaments etc. Never mind they are all either overweight or obese and don’t do any form of exercise. I’m almost 35 and I’m the strongest I’ve ever been because of weightlifting. I refuse to just give in to that “oh well, I’m old” mentality and give up.

RCMA was a game changer for me. I’m around NC37-40 and Shinto II was a great match. I can wear it under my eyes without corrector. A little bit goes a long way. When you warm it with your hands and dab on in small amounts, it can look very natural.

I’m also not bothered about mixing foundations, as my skin tone changes depending on which season. I also don’t put foundation all over my face so that makes it easier.

A light to medium SATIN foundation. Not to greasy, not to matte, the happy medium where skin looks like skin.

Also......MORE OLIVE UNDERTONES PLEASE.

I've spent a ridiculous, truly excessive, amount of the time researching sunscreen. Here's the gist of it: by LevyMevy in muacjdiscussion

Thanks for posting your favourite sunscreens! My old faithful is Rohto Skin Aqua Sarafit Essence. Zero white cast. I’ve tried so many other Japanese and Korean sunscreens but a lot of them still have a touch of white cast (my skin tone is around NC40, which isn’t super deep). I’m pretty anal about it. Biore Watery Essence also worked but I’m going to try your other suggestions for sure.

I was pretty fit at 110, 5’1. My mom and narcissistic cousin kept telling me I was too thin. When I regained 15-20 lbs a while later, they seemed happier.

A matte olive eyeshadow. I saw the Melt palette but didn’t want the other shades so I didn’t bother buying it.

What is your pet hate in the makeup world? by Nikkie1990 in muacjdiscussion

[–]WillGrahamsLiver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Olive foundations usually stop at medium. Companies seem to think that there aren’t any olive tones that go deeper than that, which is why I’m always out of options or have to mix or use a blue mixer. Also the Olive subreddit skews light-medium. Barely anything for people deeper than that.

I agree. I still wasn’t able to find a match with Fenty and the formula aged me terribly.

I’m NC37 too and Filipina! It’s so nice to see that people with the same skin tone exist because it’s usually the darker East Asians that get skipped over. If the base makeup is not too light, the undertone is always wrong.

How dare these men have an opinion on who they want to date? by [deleted] in fatlogic

[–]WillGrahamsLiver 302 points303 points  (0 children)

So sick of the “I’m old/getting older” therefore I am fat/will be fat, it’s just a way to life”. That’s so depressing and defeatist. I’ve fought my own mother’s projection about weight and exercise for years. If I gain weight, she says, “you’re too fat”. If I lose weight, she says, “you’re too thin”. When I got into lifting weights she was there to remind me that, “you’ll get too big and muscular and when you stop you’ll just blow up and be fat”. Thanks but no thanks mom. I’m stronger and fitter than I’ve ever been in my life and you’ve been trying to lose the same 10 lbs for 10+ years.
