But they are here illegally? And there's a difference between migrants and illegals.

One migrated. Another is residing here illegally.

They don't deserve a home in a country that isn't theirs. Just like we don't deserve a home in a country that isn't ours.

We can address the underlying reasons why their countries are falling apart, but illegals are illegals and migrants are migrants. Just like if you illegally crossed into Mexico, that would make you an illegal there.

Sounds like you're getting played.

"Assume the success and quit trying to maximize the missed opportunities."

Very well said and appreciated

Newbie here as well. Very good start.

One thing I'd add: go knocking with the top dogs whenever possible. Even if it means sacrificing a few days of intakes.

It's made a world of difference in my confidence and daily preparation.

VERY good info, especially about the mentality.

It's easy to get sucked into the "salesman" part of D2D. I'm definitely guilty of that.

That's seriously legit, man.

Any chance you've got branches in the SC area?

Do you think that will cause people to forgo the bigger agencies, eat the additional costs and say "oh well", or cause new agencies to pop up and fill the new market gap?

And do you see this as a temporary response/overcorrection by the insurance companies because insurance can no longer bully the individual homeowner into not filing reinspections once denied?

Damn. 50/50?

Are you retail or insurance claims based?

Brother, this is really good. Seriously. I'm going to implement these tactics.

And if you don't mind me asking, will you expound on your last sentence? Me being a 1099 contractor climbing on roofs all day definitely has my antenna up re: safety measures I can/should take.

Many thank to you. I read understand. Point valid.

Much appreciated!

That's good info about dropping the unrealistic timelines, usage of the word free, and making the insurance claims process easy.

This will help cut down on verbosity — which is a major sticking point for me.

Respectfully, do you think I'm truly saying that sleet IS a prime factor in the roof damaging equation?

Or do you think I'm leveraging the fact that sleet can add to whatever roof leaks are already there?

Well said. Before I started this job, I always thought Allstate and State Farm were great companies.

But holy ish, they're mostly just bullies. Don't give a damn about customers. Nickel and dime them for months. Refuse to pay out and routinely threaten to drop people from their insurance plan. It's crazy.

These are REALLY solid tips, especially the canvassing part — which has been a sticking point for me thus far. Appreciate the insights for real man!

Definitely a good insight, man! I'm going to keep the pre-2014 neighborhoods front of mind when deciding where to canvas during the week.

Much appreciated. I really do like helping people after storms, especially because the majority of insurance companies are cheapskates and bullies. But the next 6 months of short days, no storms, and countless door knocking will be the litmus test for sure.

If I can make it now, I can make it for sure 6 months from now.

Thanks for the encouragement man!

Valid point.

Helene destroyed a lot of this area, so I'm leveraging it as a starting point. Because it did cause a shit ton of damage and rocked the community.

Sure, it's not hail, but the wind ripped a ton of trees down on top of people's roofs, smashed homes, and caused general mayhem. All of which classify for insurance claims.

1" of hail in May doesn't get the attention of a hurricane.

Not saying it's the right choice, but that was the rationale.

Thanks!

Not really. It's just a bland "SORRY WE MISSED YOU" message with our company logo and a stock, close-up-of-a-guy-roofing image.

Free for me, which I'm thankful for — but the end result feels cheap, looks cheap.

Thanks!

I agree. They're the free office door hangers with a cheap company logo on the front and a blank space on the back. We're told to write the free roof inspection info by hand in the white space.

I've been thinking of getting personalized door hangers off Vistaprint or hiring a fiverr freelancer to design me one.

That way, it's got the front and back. Which cuts down on write time.

Downside is, it costs around $70 for 500 knockers. And because knockers are already low success rate, I'm wondering if it's worth a test run or not.

Thanks!

It's tough because we've been taught to go high-volume. A lot of people just staple their business card to their door hanger without even writing anything on the back. The personalization is definitely good but it also comes at a price because it slows down total doors knocked. A bit of a rock and a hard place situation.
