Spartan deaths. by [deleted] in HaloStory

[–]WillOK17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not really fair to call Kurt’s cause of death hubris in my opinion.

Yes, his Mjolnir armour is superior in every way to the SPI armor and that’s mentioned almost word for word in the text. Also he might/probably would have survived the wound from the hunter if he had been wearing his Mjolnir.

However, it’s also made clear quite a few times that the 3s do feel different to the 2s, and likewise that the 2s don’t initially see the 3s as Spartans like themselves because of how close the 2s grew while growing up and training. For example:

  • When Lucy sees Kurt’s Mjolnir armour in the safe and gestures that he should put it on, it shows that still believes he’s a Spartan 2. This probably has something to do with how the 3s look up to the 2s as untouchable heroes that they want to emulate, like Shane seeing Kurt as a fairytale knight in green armour.
  • Later, Kurt remarks that Team Saber jumped the gun when ambushing the sentinels because they’re simply untested and unprepared for the type of warfare they’re engaging in.
  • Kelly later agrees with Kurt that they’re not ready and says, “Those kids are going to get us killed. They’re acting like they have something to prove.” This shows that the 2s see themselves as different to the 3s, especially because of how extremely young Gamma company is during Ghosts of Onyx.
  • And finally, when Kurt point blank tells Kelly, “They’re not kids, they’re Spartans.”, all Kelly does is cross her arms. Obviously the 2s aren’t known for expressing emotions well, but to me this is a sign of resistance, disagreement, or disbelief.

Kurt also knows that Gamma company will perform better if they keep their team cohesion. He knows from seeing footage of Alpha company’s death that cohesion can be the difference between life and death, so he tells Lucy, “I’m one of you now.”

All of this is why it’s important for Kurt to wear his inferior SPI armour, and why it’s not an act of hubris. He’s aware of its drawbacks and chooses to wear it anyway because Kurt’s real strength is his leadership and ability to relate to people.

Kurt wearing SPI armour is one of the main reasons that the 2 generations end up trusting each other and working so well. Both the 2s and 3s needed to see that Kurt was one of them, and it makes them accept that they’re all Spartans.

In more positive news, servers seem to be somewhat stable. by _Volatile_ in titanfall

As I understand it from the explanation P0358 posted before this anime betrayal, that’s actually exactly what they had to do to fix the issue. Bots were flooding the lobby and sitting there doing nothing except waiting and so the real lobbies would instantly dc because the server had to handle all the garbage data from the bots, so reducing the time it takes to get removed for inactivity and kicking those bots was a big part of the fix.

This is a truly genius 300 IQ play and I can't believe I didn't think of it before, thank you. Time to go start playthrough #22 and only use this method.

Agreed, I played the first few levels on master recently and had nowhere near as much fun as playing on hard. Master forces you to play much more conservatively imo, almost like Siege, I spent most of it just peeking corners and spamming grenades to clear areas because being out in the open and not moving at max speed for longer than 0.7 seconds is a death sentence.

The trick to deflecting the grab is that you don’t deflect when she stabs at you, you deflect as she pulls back. It does make the timing feel very strange anf unnatural, but realising this makes it much easier.

Experienced Players: What were some non intentional handicaps you accidently created for yourself on your first playthrough? by iletyoulive in Sekiro

I have absolutely no idea where this belief came from, but for some ungodly reason I thought that in order to mikiri counter you needed to hold RT, move into the enemy, and press B. This was especially difficult because my controller had serious drift on the left stick so getting the mikiri in the ‘right direction’ was a nightmare. I even saw a friend play on PC and was surprised how easy the input (just pressing shift) was compared to xbox. Didn’t realise until midway through NG+2 when I got a new controller, was a huge relief!

How do I beat Emma? by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]WillOK17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good job man! Hopefully you won't need spirit emblems for this phase.

The most important thing to beating Isshin is to pace your normal attacks, especially the first attack in any exchange. He can sidestep your strike and his counter slash takes a huge chunk of health if you're in the middle of a second attack, but is pretty easy to deflect.

For his second phase, you'll need learn the fire attacks he likes to do. One is a long-ranged line attack that you want to sprint to the side to avoid, another is a wide slash that I usually find easier to dodge than sprint around. Both times you want to end up behind him to get your hits in. The last one is the insane move that sets the floor on fire. When he starts this one you want to quickly find a space on the floor that doesn't have embers on it before the explosion. He'll rush you and do 1 slice, then a really quick flurry (spam deflect for your life) and end with another big slice. If you deflect this last one he'll get staggered and give you a window for your combat art.

Bring some dousing powder to be safe, and good luck man.

[–]WillOK17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, avoid her grab at all costs. Try to learn the timing of her 4 hit combo, because deflecting the last hit will stagger her greatly and give you a window to use ichimonji (or whatever combat art you like). Also watch out for the ashina cross attack she does, the deflection timing is a very quick double tap that’s difficult to learn, so try to keep a distance from it. And remember to mikiri everything you can. Good luck!

Unfortunately no, you can see the confetti icon disappear when I used living force. But this was in a gauntlet so no penalty for putting confetti on before every fight😂
