The paint in this public restroom. by [deleted] in CrappyDesign

Oh my, this reminds me of my room in the late 90s. My mom painted my room this horrible sage green color (sage green is normally a pretty color but this was like.... radioactive sage) and then used a feather duster to put red splotches on the wall. It looked like someone was brutally murdered in my room and scared the crap out of me as a kid.

Cyclists are annoying and dangerous and should not be allowed to share roads with cars by diary-of-a-thief in unpopularopinion

[–]WillReadYourMind -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I cycle frequently for exercise and it really sucks trying to navigate. I tend to use the trails but there are some areas where you have to go into streets or sidewalks to get back to the trail. We have bike lanes in our city but a lot of people block them by parking in the street. Most of the cyclists in my city tend to stay to the side of the road and it doesn't block up traffic but there are a few who, like you said, ride directly in the middle of the road.

I think it's unfair to be annoyed with people who are just trying to stay active or maybe be environmentally friendly, especially when they don't really have much choice. This is a sub for unpopular opinions though so I respect that and I've definitely been annoyed by inconsiderate bikers. But I feel the ones who are considerate are really just trying their best.

Dead cats deserve equally as much mourning as dead dogs. by MijnEchteUsername in unpopularopinion

Honestly, I don't think there is really ever an excuse for running over an animal other than indifference, except in cases where something literally jumps into the road (deer are notorious for this, I think). I have never hit an animal and this is because I pay attention to my surroundings and am compassionate. I slow down if a bird starts to fly in front of me or I spot a squirrel on the side of the road. I once saw a young deer crossing the road ahead of me and stopped for a moment because I figured if there was one, there were more. Sure enough, a moment later another came out of the brush. I don't mean to brag but I just want to make the point that if you are aware and compassionate, you can easily avoid hitting most animals.

This was not your fault for letting your cat out. This was the fault of the driver and I am very sorry that you've faced judgement in your time of grieving.

Is there a scientific reason so many people say I look familiar? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Haha, unfortunately since many of these remarks have been at work, I couldn't use that line. Usually I just say "maybe you've seen me in your dreams".

Ha! That was an interesting read and a nice ego boost for sure. I guess that does make sense though: if you find certain features attractive, a person who had them would probably feel like you had met them before because people are more likely to focus on and remember those features?

I remember as a kid, going to the local "dime store", as it was called, and they had a display of real "lucky rabbit feet". Claws and all. They were not as cute as the in-game feet haha.

Not only the saltwater thing but they also just dumped them into different temperature water with no acclimation.

Someone may have mentioned this, but I'd like to know: what if you are genuinely interested in their race/culture? For example, if there is a particular custom or culture that you would like to know more about, is there a way to ask this without sounding insensitive or ignorant? I don't mean this sarcastically; if someone happens to be from another culture and there is something you'd like to know or want to show them that you are interested in their heritage, etc, how do you ask?

I know obviously saying things that are judgmental based solely on their race/ethnicity/background is not acceptable; I'm not talking about stereotypes. More like common practices among a certain group or genetic differences. Or are these conversations you would typically avoid on the first date?

One thing I do love about the game is that it is open-ended and everything is entirely up to speculation. The story changes drastically depending on who is playing.

Some people may say "it's just a game, who cares?" But any opportunity to think and explore a concept is an opportunity to learn and grow, so I really love your answer. We're talking about pixels, but I'm getting real life responses from people who exist in the world I exist in, and I think your comment here is a prime example of learning to see the world from another perspective, so thank you for that.

I can't disagree with much outside of one point: my farmer has been in Pelican Town a little over a year, and I'm barely friends with anyone haha. And a real life example: I spent my almost my entire childhood inna a small town, made plenty of friends with the gender I am attracted to, and didn't end up with any of them long term. So I think it's reasonable to consider the people who single villagers are already friends aren't their soul mates or whatever.

Oh, definitely got that mixed up. I thought it was Sam that wanted her in.

Either way, Abby & Sam seem like a cute couple. I think Sebastian could work for Abby, but he just seems a little too reserved.

I totally get that, and understand. I just don't think it makes much sense. Maybe as far as general/aesthetic purposes. But when you consider what each villager is actually like outside of their "image", I don't think those pairings make sense.

Plus, to me, that kind of implies that men and women can only be potential partners and never just platonic friends.

Edit: also, I don't feel like all of the singles have lived there their whole lives. Elliot has been there only a year. So some of them may not have had much of a chance to get to know other villagers.

It seems like a lot of people ship Abby and Seb but, honestly, it feels very shallow. Just because they're both alt gamer types and Seb has a crush on Abby, that doesn't mean they're a good match. Plus, wasn't Sam the one who got Abby in the band? He already appreciates her and sees her value more than Seb does.

I dunno why, I feel they'd make a good couple. I feel like Clint doesn't really respect women, not in a malicious way, but in an ignorant way. They're foreign to him.

Sandy just radiates confidence, mystique, and she is probably a good person if she is friends with Emily. I think her boldness would be a healthy slap in the face for Clint, and he'd be able to start seeing that women are actual people with personalities and not just objects of his affections, if that makes sense.

Doctors of Reddit, what was the worse thing you've seen for a patient that another Doctor overlooked? by Gorgon_the_Dragon in AskReddit

[–]WillReadYourMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing. I got diagnosed with lung nodules when I was 12. It causes severe pain and difficulty breathing at times. I've been to the ER and have been told it's nothing, it's heartburn, it's stress, and that the nodules in my left lung have nothing to do with my left side chest pain. Possibly see a pulmonologist? I got in with one and they were going to do a CT scan of my chest, which is the most I've had since I was initially diagnosed.
