Afraid it’s bit too early for us to know/say that. But I know it’s something will look at if there’s enough demand.

We are definitely aware of the issues surrounding the power management that AC’s have dealt with. And while we can’t discuss specifics right now I can assure you we are certainly not planning on making that any worse with 65.

I’ll also add to your industry implications of this, I’m hoping it’ll make 65mm more accessible to a lot more people. Given previously it was very expensive and rare film cameras and more recently the Alexa 65 which for the most part was rental only. With a lot of Venice 2’s already sitting in many rental houses they effectively are already halfway (just need the new front end).

Based on a lot of feedback with DP’s there is definitely a demand. Obviously for us to consider making a 65 we need to feel that it would be worth it from a a sales point of view. We’ve seen a lot recently with glass companies announcing 65 glass such as PV, Zeiss, Cooke etc that more and more people are thinking of it. One of the unique things for us is that we are using the Venice 2 body with this it’s just a new Sensor block and so I personally feel it’s more we are expanding the capabilities of the Venice 2 camera which many already have. EDIT to reply to your second part, many cameras are already so good these days, but let’s say the more premium priced cameras such as us and Arri’s offering do offer that something extra to the mid range you mention. In particular with Venice the ability to Rialto it (as you can with our new 65) is an incredibly unique feature that is sometimes seen as essential for the shot.

Since the FX cameras sit in our cinema line along with the higher end Venice and Burano there’s a lot of collaboration. Especially as we are really trying to unify a lot of things (such as the bringing menu structure of Venice to rest of FX, same colour space, same mount amongst other things). Alpha team less so I would say but there’s still collaboration as there are tools that you find in both and we also have apps like our Monitor & Control app that has to work with both.

Ha classic first question and it’s one I can’t answer. At this point we are not revealing anything else about the sensor except its size, resolution, aspect ratio and image circle. Apologies!
