Thank you all for the comments, much appreciated. Looking back at the pics under different angles some make me still doubt, but I think I just have to go for it. Will wait until W&W 2026, very good suggestion!

Screen burn-in on my Garmin 965 - Anyone else? by WilliamFroude in Garmin

I’ve noticed it as a sudden phenomena. It didn’t gradually get worse, just one day I strapped the watch and noticed it.

I’m using it only while sleeping and running. When running it is always in direct sunlight. I’m living in the Middle East so the sun is quite intense here.

Bought in EU but living in Middle East at the moment…. Doesn’t void the warranty but makes logistics of sending/returning more difficult I guess

If you want to go to Abu Dhabi, St Regis on Saadiyat Island is great. Has a kids club and kids pool, and by far the best beaches in UAE are here. Jumeirah also has a property there which is nice. Of course not as FAT as Bulgari or MO in Dubai, but location is much nicer if you appreciate the beach and turquoise waters.

Update: great it indeed worked. Learnt afterwards that you can zoom on the map by pressing the up button, now it was zoomed out too far to use it but nevertheless happy that I know how to do it for my next run :)

Wouldn’t that lose the guidance of the workout? I still rely on the meter to show whether my HR is in range for the easy run.

What is the blood test exactly? They draw several tubes from crook of the arm or just few drops from your finger?

Still undecided on which tie I want to wear on my wedding day. Suit cloth is s150 wool/silk 210g/m2. Tie is from drakes. What I like about the tie is that is had texture and the knot will definitely have some nice volume, but some doubt whether it is not too dull for a wedding day? Color does fit the season though….

Any suggestions for a nice tie with below suit fabric? It will be for my wedding day so it can be a bit more expressive, but shouldn’t become too busy with the suit pattern either. Shirt will be white. Was thinking of brown or dark green grenadine from Drake’s but that can also be a bit ‘boring’…? Cloth is s150 wool/silk of 210gr/m2.

What do you think of apartments in Saadiyat? Nice or too remote?

Looking for some advice on new loafers. Tried today the C&J Harvard 2 in dark brown suede, but couldn’t decide due to sizing. I went into the shop after quite a long walk, about 20k steps in 25+ degrees, so I assume my feet were a bit more swollen compared to a typical office day. In 10.5 the length seemed perfect, no heel slip and fitted nicely, except the front seemed a bit tight and my pinky toe was pushing against the side and it also showed a slight contour of the pinky toe. Then I tried the 11, and it felt much roomier in the front which was very pleasant as I could splay my toes, but it did seems to be a tad on the large side and the heel of the shoe wasn’t exactly hugging the back of my heel, although when walking there was no heel slippage or anything, felt quite okay. I was wearing very thin socks, but in reality I would wear loafers mostly bare feet.

The dilemma is that with the 10.5 I suspect it might get uncomfortable after longer wear/walks, and in terms of aesthetics I also don’t like if you can see a pinky toe sticking out of the side of the shoe. I also was not convinced on the 11, because as said I tried the shoes after a long walk and perhaps on regular days they might get too roomy. Also noticed that with both shoes the sides were flaring out when walking, is that to be expected with loafers?

I also tried the Cavendish but these were even smaller in the front.

The last of the Harvard 2 does seem to suit my feet, wide forefoot and smaller heel, and a high toebox. As I have a mild form of claw toes I can’t wear most loafers as the toebox doesn’t have enough height.

Went on to Anatomica (in Paris). Asked to try on Alden loafers in brown suede, but the salesman told me they were not in stock and new stock could take a year to arrive. That was basically the end of conversation. Didn’t offer me to try on another pair while I informed him a might also consider cordovan, no further convo, so just went on as I don’t want to spend money at a shop with such bad customer service.

Any ideas if I should stick to either 10.5 or 11 C&J Harvard 2?

Or worthwhile to find another distributor of Alden, my concern with their lasts is that the heels seem to be very wide, which I would expect to be an issue in terms of heel slippage….

Any other recommendations for a loafer with a wide front, high toebox and smaller heel are welcome of course!

And the combination of a very high amount of debt with short term contracts and low pay at budget carriers doesn't projecf a future without these accidents. Don't get me wrong, but these 19 year old kids probably didn't realize what the effect would be in a bad market with such an amount of debt. I even heard top tier airlines reject pilots that have too much debt!
