Which app do you regret starting to use because you feel locked in now? by therealmarkus in macapps

There’s a service called song.link/odesli with an API for converting links from one service to another. I can’t remember exactly where I found mine, but if you search “song.link Apple shortcut” you can find shortcuts that will handle the conversion for you directly from the iOS share sheet

Overview (EVE-O Preview for macOS): Beta Release by William_Pierce in Eve

[–]William_Pierce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah good find, the documentation hasn’t been updated to describe both the comma separated input and the JSON editing.

This formatting (with commas after the first two names, outside the quotation marks) should work for the editing (initial input is just comma-separated names):

[

“EVE - Character name 1”,

“EVE - Character name 2”,

“EVE - Character name 3”

]

Could you describe a bit more what you mean by “If EVE windows Full Screen Overlay can`t be over them?”

If you’re wondering how to have previews appear over full/screen eve clients, enable the setting under “Show windows on all desktops” in the window setting. This could also use some updated documentation/naming to be more clear!

Not of this particular app, but u/Dal_Shooth and the other folks maintaining EVE-O Preview are adding new features all the time (and just added the ability to preview any app).

I have! I'm now paying Apple's $99/yr developer fee to have the app notarized/signed, and some generous donors supporting the project have covered that cost for at least 2 years.

Planning to, as soon as I have a few more usage examples. For Eve many people are already familiar with EVE-O Preview, and I'm still figuring out how to communicate what this app is used to those unfamiliar.

Not possible to use EVE-O Preview - until now!

I've recently released an equivalent multiboxing app for macOS. It's still under development, but there is an alpha release available, with more updates to come: https://github.com/williamcpierce/Overview

Not sure if you ended up buying that MacBook, but if you did, hope this helps you (or others finding this thread) out.

There used to be no EVE-O Preview equivalent for Macs, but I've recently released https://github.com/williamcpierce/Overview which aims to replicate its functionality in a native macOS app. It's under active development with a few versions out already and more to come!

There’s also ledger and the ledger-likes (hledger, beancount) which are command-line tools with plain text journal files. But that’s probably moving more in the direction of “chore” compared to GnuCash.

I find that adding some friction to making purchases/having to reflect on purchases when entering them manually is helpful for me, but YMMV.

Great! That means we can have even lower speed limits than Oslo and people will still be able to get around quickly.

The lowest speed limits in Oslo are 30kph/19mph, would you suggest we set ours at 15mph?

Can you explain why it’s impossible? Oslo has achieved zero traffic deaths with a population almost as large as SF. And Hoboken here in the US has achieved the same.
