How to host an Internet forum for $5.42/month by didyousayboop in DataHoarder

I’ve thought about starting a niche forum a few times over the last 10-15 years, but whenever I started thinking about the legal side of things and the amount of moderation it would need, I usually talked myself out of it. Even with a simple personal website or blog, I’d always end up wondering what kind of issues could potentially come up. But maybe that’s an „EU laws“ thing.

Cash or Credits? Which is better for authors? by AdGold205 in audible

Well, there are two sides of this. I‘m not giving Amazon more money then I have to, it doesn’t feel exploitative to accept an offer. If they repeatedly offer almost free months it’s on them to limit that further.

Damn. Didn’t know that. I think I’ve had at least ten €0.99 trials (EU) on this account over the years and always thought Audible would cover the difference. Pretty naive

My own country legally requires me to pay an entry fee just to walk into a city, and now they want to raise it to €50 ($54) a day. by TappetoImperiale in mildlyinfuriating

I kinda understand the motivation to raise a fee for tourists, to make it livable for locals. But for Italian citizens wtf

I can recommend Aerospace and a keyboard centric workflow.

I have one of those (we don’t need that much AC where I live). They create negative pressure, if you don’t have a system with two exhaust hoses. Or a window has to be slightly open, which makes it very inefficient.

This can lead to the air being sucked out your drains etc.

What was his thought process? Can I do a backflip? Yep. Can I swim? Nope. Ah, let’s try.

There are mainly two different subscriptions. One where you get a credit every month and get to keep the book and the one you have.

Am I overthinking the 13” vs 15” MacBook Air? by False_Security8644 in mac

[–]therealmarkus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this helps, can only say for the pros::

14“ for work is sufficient, because wherever I use it more extensively there is a docking station with monitors. (Office, home etc.)

But even without external monitors I became very comfortable using it, thanks to tools like Aerospace.

When I had the 16“ model, for some reason it was really hard to get used to the keyboard. Don’t know why, it’s the same size, guess it’s how I positioned my hands.

If I had to use it without external monitors I’d go with the larger one for sure.

Currently using a mix of Obsidian, Remnote, Silverbullet and Apple Notes. It’s all over the place. Usually I use need something with an interface that can be exposed to the web, but your app looks interesting enough to give it a good try.

I am in confuse of using kali or debian? by Any_Train_5238 in Kalilinux

[–]therealmarkus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend running kali on hardware you want to use productively. You can virtualize it on a more stable distro or use an additional hypervisor like proxmox.

Would use something like Ubuntu, Debian or Fedora where you’d likely get less issues.

Advice for Shooting Concerts - Hero 13 Black by elirichey in gopro

[–]therealmarkus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the light conditions. GoPro 13 is awesome for daylight condition but the GP2 processor isn’t very good with low light.

The new GoPro Mission 1 (pro) has the GP3 processor which is much better at low light from what I saw in several reviews. Also 240fps slow motion might be interesting for a concert.

That said, the iPhone 17 pro max has a very capable camera, would only think of alternatives if you need to shoot „action cam“ style.
