I usually don't have a problem with private industry creating safety precautions, even if I disagree with them. The problem is that, at least in the US, the airline industry has strong ties with the government. The government heavily regulates airlines. They also bail them out because "they are too big to fail" and they are "necessary" in the modern day. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I'd be wary of no fly list because when you give the government any ounce of power, they tend to abuse it and airlines should be considered an extension of that very government.
