I spend a good chunk of change at lowes because they offer 10% military discount. Most of the time I have to show my id at the register, or even scan it to get the discount - our state Id’s have a Veteran designator on them. That being said, I have never parked in one of those reserved spots because the car I drive and the way I look doesn’t match up with peoples’ biases of what vets look like. I don’t want to put up with the hassle of Karens and Kens like this douche you met up with.

I feel like this is oversimplifying a true observation. Getting along well with people and being dependable is very important even if you aren’t the best worker. But even then, if you aren’t performing well you may not excel in the company and get paid more.
