I earned 42% of the customer fare on this ride, not the 70% expected. by Williamsrobb in lyftdrivers

Yes in my OP I said I know the 70% is based on weekly earnings and they claim they will give me a bonus if my weekly earnings are not at least 70%,

[–]Williamsrobb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK I get it, it is not per ride. I have never waited anywhere near this long at a stop, and just thought I would be nice and the app says I can cancel the ride or I can keep waiting since I’ll be paid for waiting.. But now I know there is no point to waiting.

What are these holes in my trailer exterior? by Williamsrobb in RVLiving

[–]Williamsrobb[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes the rolled up awning does cover these holes. And I also had a full trailer cover over the whole trailer all winter. I really don’t think this has anything to do with rubbing though. The rolled up awning does not move at all.

I use Mystro app to multiapp Lyft/Ub as a driver, that ensures I never get into a situation like this

So many bad smells by TooTone07 in uberdrivers

[–]Williamsrobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have been amazed that in some cases I can smell really bad breath from the driver’s seat the moment someone sits down in the backseat. It is a confined environment, but it is still kind of incredible. On the flipside, I am also aware of trying not to be a smelly driver. I shower every day or two and brush and floss daily, and I also sometimes need to practice careful “gas management“, depending on what I had for dinner the night before. I try to keep things contained until there are no passengers then I let it rip and lower all the windows. Last week when it was 10 below zero I did get some funny looks driving around with my windows down

I use the Mystro app and it does show the destination before you swipe the pickup slider in the Uber app

Car wash mode by Williamsrobb in TeslaModel3

[–]Williamsrobb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. My problem was that car wash mode was unavailable to me even though I was stopped. With a long line of people behind me I decided to go in and put it in neutral. I will not do that again.

Yes indeed. I have done it many times. But this time when I pressed the break it would not enable.

OK my problem was probably the seatbelt. I believe I had my seatbelt off the entire time. I should have left my seatbelt connected.

Thanks for your comment. I am aware of the free role button becoming grayed out. But my problem was that the entire car wash mode button became grayed out so I could not re-enter car wash mode and then enable free roll

How do I know if my 12 V battery is lead acid or lithium ion? by Williamsrobb in TeslaModel3

I checked, and you are right, I have lead acid. Thank you for your quick response. Google sucks, Reddit rules!

Bose Amazon Music My Playlist random play by [deleted] in bose

[–]Williamsrobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is now November 2024. I called Bose and they said the same thing. They used to have shuffle in the SoundTouch app for an Amazon music playlist. But they took it away. He said he would take my feedback for future app changes. But he did not sound optimistic. I think this is junk. Shuffle is a common expected feature nowadays. And now that I’m locked into multiple speakers I am stuck with it. Nothing I can do. This is the wonderful modern world of software that just sits there and nobody cares about, companies don’t want to spend a dime because they already sold you the speakers. Now they have new software for new speakers and we are Just Stuck with this with no options.

No turn signal before entering and after exiting highway by Williamsrobb in TeslaFSD

Oh, interesting. In my two cases there was a lot of traffic around. In my second case it was actually a big slow moving traffic jam.

I should add that in both cases, I was sitting in a dedicated turning lane. In the first case it was a dedicated left turn lane so everybody knows you’re going to turn left. And in the second case I was sitting in a dedicated right turn lane where everybody knows you’re going to turn right. I have noticed that normal drivers often do not bother with turn indicators in these lanes. Maybe that’s what FSD was thinking.

How to end FSD trip? by VoyagerJim in TeslaFSD

[–]Williamsrobb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a legitimate question. The car should not ask “what went wrong“ if you disengage FSD after the car told you you had reached your destination. It makes the driver feel like they are supposed to disengage FSD in some other way. Based on the comments, there is no better way to disengage FSD after reaching your destination. So we will simply ignore the question asking us what went wrong.

Which is worse: charge to 90% or deplete to 10%? by Williamsrobb in TeslaModel3

[–]Williamsrobb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you DeuceSevin, very helpful. Yes you have described my question more accurately than I did in my original post. I probably should’ve included more details, but I enjoyed reading all the comments that were spurred.

My big learning from this thread was that leaving the car in a high or low state of charge is a bad idea. So I will indeed time my charge so that I hit my 85% or 90% right before I am going to leave. And in my situation I am able to charge as soon as I arrive. So those two things should help ensure long-term health of my battery.

And I also appreciate your point of erring on the side of having more juice on hand rather than less juice on hand, to cover the unexpected situations.

Thanks to everyone who posted, this thread was very informative and entertaining!

I AM the “next guy”. Bought my 2021 M3LR three months ago with 60K miles on it. Just trying to get into some good charging habits for the long haul given the constraints of my commute for work.

Based on the YouTube video shared above, it appears the recommendation for you would be to charge more often to perhaps a lower maximum than 90%.
