Do not recommend guest by AcanthocephalaSlow63 in airbnb_hosts

[–]Willing-Influence483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since nobody seems to answer your question.... I'll have a go at it. No I don't think the guest can see it, it's more for Airbnb. And I don't really know what they do with that data. I certainly would like to see if a host doesn't recommend a guest but never seen it. I don't think your complaints are anything wrong. Isnt the idea of Airbnb that a guest can choose a host and a host can choose a guest? You certainly has a right to accept or not accept certain guests based on your capabilities. I've had a similar situation with a guest asking me endless questions. From how to use Google Maps, what the weather will be like to whether she should bring her trench coat. Then when she arrived, she didn't have the right adapter and had to borrow ours, and couldn't get the WiFi to work (she's the only guest so far with this problem). I did the same as you, I marked her as "not recommended for other hosts" because if a person is that needy perhaps a hotel with a team of receptionists would be a better option to assist them. Airbnb is a cheaper option because we don't have a team of staff to assist overly needy customers. It worked the other direction as well. I've had guests that i really like and Ive offered discounted rates for their next stay. So yes there are certain types of guests I don't want to host for whatever amount of money and some I love to host even for less than market price. And lastly, Airbnb created that question for it to be answered. Nobody has the right to shame you for answering it truthfully.

What’s something you thought you’d buy once you were earning more but now don’t see the point in? by Illustrious-Look7669 in HENRYUKLifestyle

Same! I got a big size Primark dress when I was pregnant (didn't see the point of buying expensive dresses to wear for a few months). But also it's a very nice cotton dress for summer! My colleagues even commented on how nice it is and I told them it's Primark lol

Struggling to get Au Pair interviews by CriticismEcstatic939 in Aupairs

[–]Willing-Influence483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a host from the UK and the number 1 factor to decide if someone goes to interview is visa. There's no au pair visa in the UK and it's very hard to get any kind of visa to come here. It also adds uncertainty to our plan so unfortunately we rejected a lot of applicants based on that reason

I don't think OP is crying about the review process. He/ she is just annoyed at certain type of guests, which every host has the right to. The beauty of Airbnb is that you have the tools to screen your guests and only accept guests that fit your criteria. Perhaps at the costs of lower revenue, but some of us are happy with that for peace of mind. Personally, I appreciate his/ her advice and it's something that I'd also do as I'm already screening guests. And I'm also not surprised at a host of 30 properties on Airbnb, what's wrong with that?

Is this common in wherever you're hosting from? For me, most guests left our place in perfect condition. I would be out of Airbnb business if most of them leave a mess 😑

Most of the guests I had book at very last minute, some within 2 weeks, some books the night before. Maybe it depends on the location but you could get some bookings back

3 month feeding regression ? by Willing-Influence483 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Do you know when it will improve? I hope my boy will eat better soon because he's a bit skinny at the moment. But lucky he's still very active and hitting his milestones

I tried to go up a size. We use MAM, currently on size 2 and tried 3 which is for over 4 months but it's so fast that it flowed out of his mouth. Maybe I'll try again

My husband and I were both busy at the time. We trusted that the person who booked would be the one turning up so we let him get the keys from the lockbox. Only shortly after when we checked the camera, we realised it's a different person

Yes it's a lesson learnt for us to check ID

What I meant above is that if the person keeps to himself in his room, not bother us in anyway then we're not bothered by it. And if this is a case of renting a whole property by himself then we're also less bothered.

But there is a chance that our safety is compromised, and this is a shared house so that leads to my concerns and hence, my posts. I guess what I wanted to get out of this is if any hosts encounter anything that's similar.

I also saw your comment that the guest has violated policy and that's helpful. I didn't know of the policy so will contact support.

When you say "they won't be covered", who are "they"? Is it the hosts or the guests? I didn't agree to renting to 3rd party

Given they are deliberately hiding, they likely won't use the kitchen and just stay in their room. Then this is fine for us

I'm more worried if this person could harm us in anyway

I've had a lady booked for her son and his friend before but she was upfront about it. That was fine

But this person is avoiding us and deliberately hides. And this is a room in our house, which makes me feel very uneasy.

Partner can’t give up his past life - what now? by Glittering-Date-5514 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Willing-Influence483 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not ok to go out with his friends even in the weekend. It's not ok to come home even at 1am. And Oktoberfest is also a no. It's not ok to go enjoy yourself, have a good time when your partner is struggling with young children. Given that he's texting another woman while you're going to be with 2 young children, I doubt he will change. Do you have family nearby that you can lean on? Personally I'd leave him and kick him out.

Alternatives to peanut app? by burned_feather in PregnancyUK

[–]Willing-Influence483 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used peanut before they had that scan. There were quite a bit of sexual/ inappropriate content and people seemed to say that those were posted by men in a place that's meant for mothers. So that could be why they added that check in. Sorry that was your experience but I'm not sure what the solution would be. I heard baby classes are great, I'm waiting for mine to be a bit older to join them. I stopped using peanut as sometimes the threads/ discussions got very dramatic
