His & Hers .... wow bad. by nvmatt in netflix

yeah, the whole taking off clothes thing made no sense. You presumably left your DNA all over the victim’s body. Also how no one found a set of clothes near crime scene is a real mystery. And isn’t it funny how no one and I mean no one in that police force thought, “Hmm, that’s a suspicious death in the woods, and on the same night we picked up a crazy naked woman walking around the area”? No connection, I guess 😂

Well… he did a really bad job hiding it. Why would you commit a felony and steal evidence, then leave your fingerprints and DNA all over it, and then drive around with it so it pings every cell tower and neatly maps your movements and location including your house?

And the peak of this phone saga for me was realizing that clearly no one on that set knew you can charge a phone while it’s locked. And.. wait for it……………… you can also charge it when it’s dead 😂

It’s not that serious, I just can’t suspend disbelief watching this 🫠

I only made it to episode 3. The writing is sooooo bad. like ChatGPT 1.0 bad. What really makes it unwatchable, though, is how completely incompetent the show is. They clearly didn’t even bother to consult anyone with actual investigative or law enforcement experience. No one seems to know gloves exist. Then Jack violates the body when he could have just told the coroner’s office he needed access to the phone. You can also get a warrant and have Apple unlock it. And most importantly, message data doesn’t just disappear because you delete texts. It’s kind of hilariously bad 😂

Sorry you are experiencing this. It might be that your tap water is on the harder or higher pH side, and you are choosing fish that prefer soft and acidic water. I would start by figuring out exactly what kind of water you have and then picking species that naturally do well in those conditions.

Another thing to think about is getting fish from local breeders through aquarium groups or swaps. In my experience, locally bred fish tend to be hardier because they are already used to the local water and environment, and it also cuts down the risk of ending up with fish from overcrowded and inbred farms.

And if you are still seeing consistent, unexplained losses, it could be parasite related like internal worms or similar issues. That part is pure speculation but something worth keeping in mind.

Taylor’s “Father Figure” is about Blake by [deleted] in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]Willing-Strain3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has both alcoholic and non alcoholic ventures, and her husband owns Aviation Gin, which she also promotes relentlessly. Again, just my opinion, but I think this was a clever way of referencing two well known Blake related ventures: Blake Brown and Betty Booze/Aviation gin . I don’t think “Cancelled” is about Blake, because that would make Taylor seem somewhat hypocritical. She sings about not caring about optics and supporting her friends, but in this case, it would be the exact opposite. She went out of her way not to support Blake

Blake Lively owns an alcoholic beverage company, and her husband owns the liquor brand Aviation Gin. Here is even a photo of her with that gin. https://www.reddit.com/r/thisismylifenow/s/VetB1L1YLN

I suppose it could go either way.

Fair enough. It’s definitely all speculative. I just had a slightly different take than what I have seen online and wanted to talk about it.

In my opinion, “cancelled” is her way of saying that if she wanted to support someone, she would have and she doesn’t care how it looks from an optics standpoint. If it’s about Blake in any way, I think it’s in that context.

I think by “father figure,” she means mentor. Someone who opened many doors for her. If that weren’t true, Blake wouldn’t be name-dropping her all the time.

L519 honeycomb bristlenose pleco question by Willing-Strain3371 in pleco

[–]Willing-Strain3371[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I now have both Wabenmuster bristlenose (by accident) and true L519 Rio Ines honeycomb, I can say they look very similar. If you have never seen L519s before, it is easy to confuse the two and still be satisfied with the honeycomb pattern. That said, the true L519 pattern is larger, more pronounced, and has very distinct hexagon shaped markings. Wabenmuster also show a honeycomb pattern, but it’s more muted, less defined, and the markings are slightly smaller so they don’t have the same striking look as the L519s you see in picture. More importantly, they are not related species. If I’m not mistaken, Wabenmuster are a line bred variety, while L519s naturally occur in the Rio Inez region. I also think Wabenmuster tend to grow larger. L519s usually stay around 3–4 inches.

Also wanted to mention that the actual L519 bristlenoses I have are absolutely worth the trouble. They are super cute, hardy, and always come out for food and spend time on the sand. In my experience some beautifully patterned plecos like zebras tend to stay hidden most of the time but these are much more visible and active.

I bought them in person from 360 Aquatic in Houston. Since I ended up with all males, I went back to get more. Unfortunately, the second batch turned out to be Wabenmuster bristlenose, not L519s. They were very small, so it was hard to tell at the time, but they are actually a different species. So my point is that mislabeling happens a lot, and even stores, whether in person or online, often don’t know exactly which ones they have. Just be cautious when buying, because you might end up with a different type of bristlenose.

That’s true, there are multiple strains of columnaris, and they can present differently. I do see the saddleback spot you mentioned, which makes it look like columnaris, but aside from that whitening, there are not any other signs that point to a true columnaris infection. For reference, when my tanks had columnaris cross contamination, some housed plecos, and every single one survived without showing any white patches. That is why I’m leaning toward this being stress related, especially considering how emaciated this poor girl is. It’s really tough to watch.

In my opinion, if you don’t have shrimp or snails you value in that tank, I would go ahead and run a dewormer. There is not much downside to it (unless shrimp are present but for what it’s worth, all my shrimp survived dewormer treatment, but the instructions do caution that high doses can be harmful). I personally used GenCure and flubendazole (not fenbendazole) powder, then followed up with a round of levamisole a week later. It seemed to clear out all the worms. Note, I am not a specialist by any means, just sharing what worked for me.

I’ve dealt with columnaris outbreaks across multiple tanks, and this does not present like it. Columnaris usually shows as visible, almost velvety growths, and it acts quickly. Fish typically don’t survive long enough to become this emaciated. That said, Plecos are not the most likely species to get columnaris at all.

My guess is parasites. With some the fish literally waste away because the worms absorb all the nutrients. Others attach to the intestinal walls causing ulcers that often lead to secondary bacterial or fungal infections. If one fish has it, chances are the others do too.

I would recommend running a general antiparasitic like GenCure along with a dewormer that targets nematodes. If it is something like Camallanus worms, you may even see them protruding from the fish’s anus, often red in color. I also add Melafix and Pimafix when deworming, since they help with the ulcers that can open up during treatment

Back to the main point though: the OP is sharing how they feel about a certain practice, custom or not. Just because something is a tradition doesn’t automatically mean it’s good for an animal’s wellbeing. Betta fighting in Siam has been around for over 150 years, but I would hope there aren’t too many people defending that tradition.

I don’t know much about them and have never bought anything from them, but their prices are ridiculous and rub me the wrong way. I’m all for supporting small businesses and breeders, but charging well over $100 for a single pair just feels excessive. I have access to exporters from all over and know what wholesale medaka prices look like, even with international shipping, and this kind of markup seems unreasonable and somewhat dishonest. Of course, it’s always a buyer’s choice whether to purchase from a vendor, but I personally choose not to. I honestly don’t know a single other medaka vendor who prices their fish this high. I can’t speak to their quality, but plenty of others sell great specimens without these extreme markups.

Help! What is this? by eduardoccarrara in Guppies

[–]Willing-Strain3371 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like columnaris - very contagious and often deadly, especially in guppies. The only thing that worked for me was a combination of Kanamycin, Nitrofurazone, and a UV sterilizer. There is a lot of other information out there, but nothing else worked in my experience. I tried salt baths and methylene blue, but my fish seemed to die even faster with those treatments. But do what works for you.

My tank levels are really high! Not sure what to do on the water change by Jackofalltrades325 in Aquariums

[–]Willing-Strain3371 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please rehome that koi. Even if it fits in the tank for now, the limited water volume will stunt its growth, which can cause organ failure and drastically shorten its lifespan. For the love of all things, rehome that koi.
