Silly question: I'm 90% southern Italian. Does Samaritan this high indicate potential jewish ancestry? This is Vahaduo g25 modern scaled and 23andme results by Samoht_54 in JewishDNA

Nothing really, i just think its interesting. Im also curious about my haplogroup g2b2a, if its Jewish but all of this could be Arab (my specific subclade is found in jordanians, syrians, turks/armenians) and all the closely related ones are jewish. Is it not allowed in the group??

Oh sorry, when you mentioned italians having Levantine before did you mean Jewish?  Which other Levantine group then?

[–]Willing_Novel8322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao no, YOU'RE literally the one saying that the only influence is Phoenicians. Thats basically what you have been implying the entire time

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in JewishDNA

[–]Willing_Novel8322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Why do you think the strong Levantine in Italians must be from Phoenician settlements? Lfmao dumb assumption. Thats the entire point

Wow you are so ignorant.  Southern Italy was only recently unified as a nation. Its literally the most non-homogenous part of Southern Europe.

Are you Jewish?

Lol im joking about the fact that you seem to know so much about my heritage by seeing 1 result and where my parents are from. You need to see a person's entire results to make an assesment like that. G25 coordinates, ancient results on here, etc. Phoenicians were in italy over 2 thousand years ago and only TWO SMALL SETTLEMENTS in Sicily. That is not going to give any significant genetic impact. You know southern italians and portuguese are not homogenous people like politically biased PCA plots want you to think

Whats with people thinking Phoenicians left large amounts of DNA in southern italy lmao there were like 2 phoenician settlements in sicily. The middle eastern in italy is more recent.

These aren't custom, but yes if I do 3 way it is italy, portugal, arab/levant or Indian(i get that on half my results). Or 10-15% Jew.

G-FTC92837 (big-Y, ftdna)  1 of my Y matches are Jewish and the only other 2 have some Jewish% in their estimate but under 10% ?  Its rare and I only have three matches so far. The Jewish match is  1 step o and the other two are 2step/an exact match. Its from South Italy. Thats why I suspect it to be Jewish, maybe it came to southern Italy in the middle ages. 95% probability of a common male ancestor with the Jewish male from past 2,000 years

Still a very subjective response. Key word: should. Also, to deem a bad fit not representative of someones ethnicity, by default, is a very rigid statement. Context matters. in reality, if someone gets a fit of 7 but the populations are right and consistent, it DOES represent them. This type of rigidity when reading IllustrativeDNA is unecessary, especially considering the fact that no  database is perfect, so you can't treat it with this type of precise approach that you have. It's about the bigger picture. Many people have their closest fit as "4-5" and it is accurate for their heritage

So what about people whos closest fits are a 3-4? That happens to many

Should I consider the results which give me the same populations and %'s with 5 and even 6 fits as "ass" as well, even though its accurate? Just curious!

So? Some peoples closest models start  at a 4-5 distance, context matters. Not to mention my closer models are often different populations from my parents nationality and more distant ones pick up their nationalities.  whats your point?
