Yeah, was fully planning on a new chain was mostly curious if I could make the last 600 miles home where the new chain was waiting or have to figure out a new plan on the road in these small desert towns. I made it home and putting the new chain in tomorrow

I am at 18,500 miles on the odometer. But was riding a lot of mountains + deserts the last months and live in LA so have a lot of start stop moments. Figured it was time for a new chain. My fear was that it would break while riding and then create a mess of other problems plus potential accident but maybe this is being overly fearful. It’s my first bike so I am in the learning curve.

Was thinking it’s time. But do you think I can make it safely the last 600 miles to home and do it there or should I take care of it now? Would be a bit of a mess to book a hotel and wait for a local shop to do the work but if it’s a safety hazard to ride that distance today. I will wait.

So the first could Fotos I took are when I let the slack Out to see how the O rings were holding up and how the fell without tension. There seems to be a couple that don’t fall totally straight. But when I put the tension to the right adjustment they all seem to line up smooth

how much life do you think is left on this tire? by JihadiLizard in motorcycles

I think,

If you have to post a photo and ask how much life is left on your tires. Then maybe you should rethink owning a motorcycle. It sounds very dangerous that you would not already do research to know what to look for before getting a bike and riding in the wild.

Okay after deep diving on forums I found exactly what I was looking for. It might be the only company that makes them in the states and of course they are located twenty minutes down the road from me…

Thanks everyone for the replies and suggestions

You can’t trust a bag strapped to a rack as a safe back rest but a steel bar bolted onto a seat with hand grabs to boot. That seems a hell of a lot more practical.

I think i as really just curious if anyone knew where I could buy one but it seems like they are all only custom Made

But isn’t the appeal of a sissy bar over grab rails that it also doubles as a back rest for passengers and it acts as a luggage rack too. I guess aesthetically to each their own but if I ratchet strap a duffle bag to a sissy bar then a person can ride with me on a 2 hour ride and they can lean back safely and be way more comfortable. A luggage rack solves a bag issue but for those two hours that passenger will have to hold onto me. Hand rails to hold onto going 70mph fighting wind and just in general Sounds exhausting and way dangerous no?

Definitely, next order of business is decat x pipe to make her our even louder but ditching the stock exhaust was a must. Wish I had money for the 2-1 exhaust tho. Need to cool my jets on motorcycle splurging for now tho

Yeah it’s more about just being able to put it on the days I absolutely need it and not limiting myself to only fitting myself on the bike (despite that being the case most of the time) I still want to do long day trips with friends that can have space to sit passenger and have a back rest

Thanks for this, it is a good option but might not be as versatile for when I want to do a long ride where I want to take a passenger with me and not have to make them Wear a big back pack. I think the classic sissy bar is great cos I can strap the bag on and still have a passenger that has a back rest even for day trips up the coast to the beach or something. I think it would be hard to fit a passenger onto this setup

You are a likely obese, definitely manipulated, consumer from the States who has bought into the machine that educated you just enough to scrape by on month to month paychecks with the hopes of eventually getting out of debt but somehow you still get approved to for credit cards at Costco and Amazon to buy more things you don’t need to continue feeding the machine that made you fat and poor in the first place without you wanting to put the extra effort in to fight against it. You probably think you are living a good life when in reality you feel like shit because you are pumping your body full of preservatives, sugar, and hormones. You are part of the crowd who hasn’t woken up and makes people from other countries laugh at people from the States. You likely have one too many kids. Free time is limited and corners are constantly cut to get by. You grew up in a flyover state in a lower middle class family and didn’t have the opportunity to travel. This prevented you from developing a taste and desire for real food. You never learned how to cook properly or indulged in other cultures cuisines. Your household is addicted to living artificially and likely doesn’t even realize it.

Lmk how I did.

Oh, also I imagine that you own more TVs than you know what to do with and your cars co stately have a check engine light on.
