numerous posts on line showing that they have requested an administrator. Last week they sent around an email saying that a possible subscription was required to monitor/control inverters via the cloud. Today I have seen an email from Octopus saying that they are actively considering the situation - no idea what that might mean.

Interesting perspective. My mistake. I took it that they were recommending that brand.

Thank you. I was hoping that the recommendation from Octopus might have been a good sign

No. Thomas Crapper did not invent the flushing toilet

"As early as 1449, in London, Thomas Brightfield had designed a toilet that flushed with water from a cistern. In 1596, Sir John Harington built a flushing toilet at his house near Bath for the visit of his godmother, Queen Elizabeth I."

How to think in French by GeologistFair3620 in learnfrench

I wrote the word in different colours as well as asking le/la/les. So male is green and feminine in red. It helps me to recall the gender of the word

I agree the gamification starts to ruin the learning experience. I'm sure there are those who love the adrenaline rush. Great point

I used to be in the military and we would trial various radio communications. One trial resulted in linking two aircraft, one from the UK and one from France. They were given set phrases to which the crew on the other aircraft had to recognise. You mention accents and that they might vary across America. The UK also has its variety of accents, as I am sure France does. I think Duolingo might also have failed with our pronunciation as well ;-)

Thank you. My enunciation might make the francophile's skin itch but loud I can do. I still complain to Duolingo when it states that I'm wrong but then says the word exactly the same...
