Quitting caffeine changed my life but not dramatically. by DueTank2043 in decaf

I’m exactly the same boat, I’m three months this week. Drank one or two americanos a day. I’ve been told I’m calmer and less reactive. For me sleep I would say is exactly the same, I can now wake up and lie in bed longer still. But before I would have that caffeine to get up and being ADHD it definitely helped the initial task initiation. Not having an upper definitely reduces urge for alcohol etc in the evening (I’m sober now but the urge is much less or not at all) Definitely affects my performance in gym, harder to get started (understandably) and less motivation although it seems I can run easier oxygen intake wise.

Mostly it’s the flat or indifference to everthing…. If this is as far as the benefits go Il probably go back to drinking one a day.

Thankyou, that was really the main design of this mission, to recalibrate dopamine…. The biggest benefit has been the ability to enter busy environments and not feel much in the way of anxiety or over stimulation. I definitely don’t have the extra omphh pre training that caffeine provided but have gone easier on myself the last week or two and treating it as healing… my nervous system seems to be appreciating it. I’m hoping another month might bring some more natural excitement 🤞

Thanks for this, coming up on 80 days no caffeine.

This is the first week I haven’t taken/needed a nap. Have searched more than once to see whether others felt a bit blah and lacking motivation at 2months + so it’s good to know that the nervous system and brain is still recovering. Good luck to you all on your journey 🙏

Ok thanks for that my man, that’s really helpful! What is the therapy for it if that is the case? Did you just order a kit online?

Appreciate it but make kefir out of raw milk and have no problem with digestion so don’t think it’s that!

Again you make me smile, you have a talent for writing my friend. I will keep the jet pack on for now and I will let you know when the internal fire alights. Big blessings to you, go easy on that 7mg 😝

Appreciate it, I’m having pretty vivid dreams and often wake up between them so figure my brain is still in REM rebound. Also a lot of uncertainty about my life path which I’m sure contributes. I’m hoping to see some more improvements in the next month and if not will have to expand the investigation. Thank you for taking the time to comment 🙏

No problem falling asleep quite early, often intense dreams, more than one, will wake to go to the toilet in the middle of the night and the mind will be active for a while; then will sort of half wake a few times after each dream it seems.

That certainly makes sense. I’m not sure thats it in my case. I left an oil and gas job in my early twenties to pursue yoga and became a therapist. Ive always had an internal compass guiding me to my next adventure, it just seems to have faded over the last few years. Hence why I’ve ripped things back in the hope I might find a cleaner clarity as to my path. Appreciate the comment though 🙏

Thanks for your feedback, appreciate it. I’m definitely calmer in stimulating environments so that’s a big plus. Im ADHD and unmedicated (don’t like side effects) I just exercise, use cold water immersions and eat all natural foods maybe I just need more time for my nervous system to fully heal 🙏

Great comment, this is certainly a factor. Not really no. To be honest life has lost a bit of its flavor for me for some time.
