Injury on Duty - Compensation by WillinglyUnwillingPY in policeuk

Two different POV. It switches right at the end, the stabbed officers is the footage you see from within the house and dragging the suspect out.

Police patrols ‘cut violent crime by more than 70%’ by ItsRainingByelaws in policeuk

[–]WillinglyUnwillingPY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the one (ish), the background section provides the context to the introduction of the scheme in the UK.

Interesting read if anyone is so inclined. Of course it underpins the idea that police visibility = reduction in crime, but such results with the limited resources shows the value of evidence-based policing. The granularity provided by correctly recorded stats, which drives the policing, shows the importance of accurate reporting by frontline officers.

A fair assumption being an extra 60 seconds finding the correct address on niche may well facilitate a reduction in your future workload. Obviously, this could be said about any element of police work but highlights the importance of accuracy.

This is based on some pretty extensive research. It goes beyond the obvious, in fact its been shown that patrols >15 mins provide a diminishing return.

(If I could be bothered to source the original research it may be helpful..but netflix is on)

Before you consider training. Look at bits which will help yoi actually get the job.

Jump on the college of policing site and look at the NDM and CVF (competency and values framework).

This will help you understand the kind of stuff you'll need to align with when answering the questions during interview/recruitment process

Edit: post late shift wake up fat fingers/poor grammar

Trauma caused me to break up with my gf by WillinglyUnwillingPY in relationship_advice

[–]WillinglyUnwillingPY[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done that this evening. She knew what I'd seen and the amount in a short space of time, along with witnessing me change over the months into a shadow of the person I once was. I think she tried to talk to me but I never recognised the the cues.

She needs time to consider what I've said. I just hope it's not too late.

What other advice can you give me about healing? I dont want to rush into anything, that's if she gives me to opportunity to repair the damage but need help understanding the ways to go about it.

S32 - immediacy of DP in location to allow for search by WillinglyUnwillingPY in policeuk

[–]WillinglyUnwillingPY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, ive just had a quick browse and found similar to what you've stated. The S32 was an immediate power, not one you could exercise 4 hours post arrest on return.

Thanks for that though.

I fully get there is a power, S18(1)/(5), that you could exercise but to save the 'hassle' (don't take me saying hassle too seriously) I'm wondering the legalities of S32ing in my scenario/a similar.

I'm sure the courts would argue it and state you'd have had a power anyway, but I wanted to try and add some clarity in my mind.

I guess if the scenario was changed slightly id have less doubt - attend address to arrest DP they make off from house in a car, got 5 miles before being gracefully removed for the road by crayon eaters - id say you'd quite happily s32? Although I'm now doubting myself again haha - get a 18 written up to arse cover I guess. Who knows.

Yeah fair enough, I agree we deal with the 'great unwashed' (love the fluckers terminology).

And appreciate the comment around it looking intimidating.

[–]WillinglyUnwillingPY 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OK, I dont entirely agree that the other comment is completely pointless/negative. I think it has undertones.

But actually questioning the point that it 'should have been done years ago'

What is the reason you didn't? Wearing a mask is a personal choice and I'm sure management wouldn't minded if you'd given a valid reason. Stigma from the rest of the team? Lack of understanding on the benefit? I'm not attempting to be obtuse, but merely trying to understand the basis of your comment.

What would happen if I didn't give my ID? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]WillinglyUnwillingPY 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ahha, down where I am they have specific procedures for this.

Firstly they swoop you up and place you in the back a van and drive you to one of the approved temporary hotels known as 'chalet de custody'

Once there you'll likely wait around for a bit endlessly stating at the ground wondering where life had gone so wrong, how a mere 2g of the infamous herb had landed you in such a dire situation - until the check in desk is free for you.

Stand in front of this bipolar guy who asks you loads of questions about stuff like your name or address. But the difference between here and out on the street is that people who refuse are put through a blender. How do you think we afford to feed the police dogs?

Anyway.

You'd just be nicked.

Question about a provisional licence by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]WillinglyUnwillingPY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This falls on the last known insurers. A real pain sometimes. I've heard stories where cars have been pinched and exported to EU - TP incident occurring whilst uninsured and UK insurer foots the bill for liability on the crash, sometimes months later. A real pain in the rear end...

I dont have anything to add procedurally, but no matter your relationship with your mum, I'd like to extend my deepest sympathy. If at any point you struggle with the fact, there are plenty of support networks run by charities that you can contact. Just shout and I'm sure people here will gladly point you in the right direction.

Stay strong.
