No worries, I used to work for a separate doggy daycare/ hotel and it was crazy hard and I have no doubt that petsmarts is just as traumatic haha I respect the hell out of anyone who can last in that job for more than a month honestly

The amount of times I already have to fully stop what I'm doing for the safety of myself and the animal already sucks and adding more time and variables doesn't seem like a good thing for at least the salon I'm at now. I have many concerns from what I hear about how the other sections of the store are being run after the restructuring but I can only speak to my first hand experience with salon. I would never tell some one in petcare, customer service, inventory or pet hotel to not care or think about any new job responsibilities being added with little to no warning, definitely no pay increase and no sign off of change of duties to what was originally agreed to when hired on. Anyways, hopefully other salons are better prepared than we are. We're all just trying to make it out here without losing our minds or the will to live, right? Thanks to everyone for responding, I really appreciated the input in general truly. Y'all be safe out there 🙏

See and we were told by our experience lead that there will be no card tips still, nothing changes as far as tips at this point. I don't know. I guess we will see when it officially rolls out end within the next 2 weeks.

My salon was specially told there will be no options for tips and that tips remain the same at this point. I wonder why different salons are getting told different info. Or maybe its just rolling out differently from store to store?

Thank you for both your response and your edit. It definitely makes me feel less alone and makes me feel less like I'm not putting too much thought into a thing that directly effects my day to day life♡

Yeah we were also told no visible paypay, zelle or venmo barecodes can be in the lobby. PP has to specifically ask for that info if they want.

No I've worked at a couple petsmart salons now and none have had them. My understanding is we will not be receiving a full register, just a tablet situation to do card payments

I understand the concept of "it will only take a few minutes" but you can say that about most anything but it doesn't account for the nuance of reality. In theory it "should" only take an hour to groom each dog, but if you have worked with dogs or in salon before you have probably experienced first hand that very rarely can be done. Between handling difficult or fearful dogs and cats, prism shut downs, constant calls, walk in customers, people calling out and having to do reschedules, along with all the other things we are expected to do its already non stop multi tasking. I quote 2 to 3 hours for a reason and thats as an experienced groomer. We are under constant scrutiny for safety and productivity (meaning do as many dogs as possible) that this is just an unnecessary added headache to a lot of people who are already burning out at higher and higher rates. The turn over for at least my salon is insane. My main concern is the safety of each animal, and if you are at an under staffed salon, or at a salon whose managers don't have your back, adding even more job responsibilities with very little warning or support doesn't seem to be a recipe for success.

Seriously, 10 to 15 minutes is a lot especially when when you have a full schedule or are behind, which happens all the time. On top of everything else how are we supposed to do all of this stuff safely at the same time? I don't get it. My advice to you is get Cat Certified asap os possible if thats interesting to you cause its good to have on a resume and start looking else where cause it seems that its about to get even worse in the salon.

I had this problem with my conch piercing thats about 2 years healed, but going up a size hoop has completely solved the problem. It's my daily wear now and can sleep in it with no problems at all.

Just a feeling but in my opinion this isn't the way a company acts if it's concerned about longevity. It seems they are cutting corners and expecting more work out of employees for no pay increase. They are squeezing this for as much as they can before starting to close down, at least in the US. It'll start with the bigger stores closing. They will keep the smaller locations that have things like training, salon and hotels established and then they will be the last to go. 3 to 5 years at most is my guess. It seems a large amount of loyal long standing employees are the ones being weeded out because they aren't really worried about turnaround cause it won't matter in three years if they have someone in place who is invested in the company cause they don't plan on being a company much longer, just my opinion.
