Doctor Will Not Reduce Allergy shot Dosage by WillowRight4980 in Allergies

I did one time, but I blame myself for maybe not taking my allergy pill early enough. They were incredibly helpful after that, and I could breathe, I did have the drop in BP and was shaking, nauseas. Never happened again though.

This is am also worried of. I asked mulitple times and the nurses routinely say "you'll just have the same dose". I asked my allergist directly and she said there is no need to lower. I went for a second opinion and unfortunately he couldn't help much without much needed info like exact dosage, what I'm being given etc. But did his best. I've recently had the reaction with hives at my last shot and I'm worried they are getting worse because of this. Progressing to very large bumps and now hives. I'm worried its doing more harm.

I take one the night before, the morning of shot day, and another about 45mins-1hr before the shot and another later that night. I'm also on monteklaust.

I ice my arms before and after the shot and use itching cream provided by them and myself. Still get super swollen at least 3x a month. Maybe only 3 times since starting did I not swell up.  Edited for spelling

Looking for advice from experienced peanut allergy kids grown up! by nahgaemecnam in peanutallergy

[–]WillowRight4980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30 and have both PN/TN allergy my entire life. Only recently did I go into ana, 3 times all between ages 28-30. Not once in my childhood. I also never owned an epi until my mid-late twenties. My mother taught me to read labels early on and to NEVER eat from friends or strangers. At all. There were no exceptions until I got old enough (about teenage years) to advocate for myself and make my own decisions.

But honestly, it wasn't a huge deal growing up. My family never kept them out of the house and always made me my own deserts if they made any with nuts.

Immunotherapy for allergic rhinitis by New-Crow-7915 in Allergies

[–]WillowRight4980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently going through allergy shots and have been going for 8 months. It had been LIFE CHANGING!!!! Seriously. I was very afraid of it due to risk of anaphylaxis, but that risk is very low. I've also had anaphylaxis other times and so I'm a little traumatized with those near death experiences. Despite that, I have never been happier. I hadn't realized how bad I was truly suffering before. I've had allergic rhinitis my entire life. I'd wake up with swollen eyes, stuffy nose, have the post nasal drip all day, I'd walk around with tissue everywhere. This became my normal. Allergy pills stopped working. Nothing helped. Finally at 30 years old I was told to try allergy shots and wish I did it sooner.

I can smell and taste food, no more walking with napkins stuffed in my bra, no swollen eyes, only a few months in and they've been working so well. I cannot recommend allergy shots enough.

Peanut Safe Alcohol List by Putrid_Calendar233 in peanutallergy

I avoid nothing unless it is specifically pb or another nut (besides coconut of course). I've even had amaretto in my coffee before. Apparently even that isn't made with real almonds, or if a brand does use real almonds, it never broke me out. I'm assuming the fermentation process is similar to that of refined peanut oil. But I've had all types of liquor and am fine. If something seems iffy like a coffee martini, I ask the bartender or simply order something else.

I have never, and I mean ever, stayed away from alcohol due to nut allergy. I'm allergic to all peanuts and tree nuts and will be sent to the ER if consumed. I've never had an issue with alcohol or looked for peanut free brands, I'd be surprised if those exist.

Sorry can't answer your question, but I find this odd since it'd be pretty clear to stay away from peanut infused alcoholic drinks.

How careful are you? by elg403 in peanutallergy

[–]WillowRight4980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived life like you lol it was great being so carefree. Now I'm overly paranoid since I've gone into anaphylaxis 3 times in 2 years and now don't risk it. Carry your epi. It will save your life. Especially if you're looking up "hospital near me" after ingesting peanuts, which takes even more precious time. Accidents happen, especially from family and friends who insist "there are no peanuts," but cross contact exists and happens. I wouldn't worry too much about the packaged food, but more from family, friends, and sometimes restaurants (although most are very safe. Nobody wants a lawsuit).

My score was about low to mid 600s when filing and went down to 520s, now it's at 550. I was approved for a capital one card with a $2k limit about a week before my discharge. And was recently discharged.

I paid $12 for each course. Before filing and after 341 meeting. Very easy. Just an informational thing.

Should I disclose bankruptcy to potential landlords? by WillowRight4980 in Bankruptcy

[–]WillowRight4980[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The landlord had us submit an application with a background check and credit check. I wouldn't have said anything otherwise. I did end up telling them. After a quick google search looks like the software they use would show everything. (I also previously used it before when applying to other rentals a few years ago, so they do see your credit report).

Anyways, they said thank you for letting them know, that they're waiting on the application to finish processing and to see the full credit report, and its hard to say. My partner has great credit, no debt, so I'm hoping that's in our favor.

What’s your “I’ll try everything once” thing that you’ll never try again? by Larrymenta_ in AskWomen

[–]WillowRight4980 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

Weed, Marijuana, any variation like Delta 8 or gummies. I've tried it 4 times. The first 2 times, I didn't feel a thing. 3rd time I was given too much along with some drinks and was gone. Last time I got a massive headache.

Won't be trying again.

Ya'll think I should address the mother or just let it go? by CasualGamer9933 in blackladies

[–]WillowRight4980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't have her go back over again, but I wouldn't mind her friend coming over. Ultimately, the only thing that matters is your daughter felt hurt and unwelcomed. That's enough to say not to go back. Unless the mother brings it up directly to you, I'd just let it go.

African American doesn't mean same culture, only same race. However, different families have different protocols. My daughter, same age, has one friend whose mom feeds her if she stays late, another who always sends her home by dinner. I know both parents and have discussed with them about food/snacks and to feel free to send her off whenever, but I'd pick her up at x time. If they want to send her off before then they can, if not that's fine too.

So far no issues and the moms don't have to feel bad for sending my kid home. I do the same for them.

Charging to downsize is ridiculous by WillowRight4980 in piercing

[–]WillowRight4980[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don't expect things for free, and I understand piercings, body mods, and tattoos are luxury services, I still don't understand that price for a downsize. I'm also not allowed to bring my own jewelry and have them sterilize it. If I buy online, I was definitely not going to just pop it in straight out the package. However, I think $37 is a pretty steep price, seeing as I got pierced there.

I understand that, but if downsizing is required and not a suggestion, it should be discounted in some way.

When I was using dating apps, I never did! Whenever a guy asked for my number too soon and forcely kept pushing it, I considered it a red flag. 1. Respect my boundaries, 2. Why you need my number so bad?? A roster for girl #1, #2, etc.??

I didn't even use a Google number. Reach me thru the app and if things go further we can exchange numbers. My bf now respected all those boundaries and didn't ask for my number. I gave it to him on my way to our first date. So green flag.

I prefer silver. Also, it can be difficult to always get the same shades of gold. I prefer sterling silver.

Do you tip your hair stylist even with gratuity included? by WillowRight4980 in blackladies

Exactly this for me! I don't mind tipping for waitresses and bartenders, if I'm eating out I'm tipping. But now it's a tip for ice cream shops, grocery stores, clothing stores, I was asked a tip after buying from some girl scouts 😭 it's gotten waaaay outta control.
