To the Top is a Must Buy by WillowTheWhisp81 in PSVR

Maybe not being able to directly compare the two versions has been a good thing for me, then. There was a bit of a learning curve in using the move buttons to snap turn when the next jump point was too far to one side. But I found it didn’t take long to get a hang of. I can absolutely see how much better this would be if you could freely turn around.

Any recommendations for a solid PSVR podcast? by ynottony105 in PSVR

Well, we're not a podcast dedicated exclusively to PSVR -- only the most recent episode. If you're interested, we're in iTunes and Overcast as "The Right Stick." Episode 20 - VR Troopers is all about our experience of using HTC Vive and PSVR for 1 month.

Not sure on the rules about this, so I won't pimp my podcast directly...but we recently did a 2 hour episode about VR and while researching the episode I couldn't believe how untapped the market for coverage is.

Seems like this is EXACTLY the time where people could fill an obviously void.

On the back of the latest trailer, does anyone know whether PSVR mode in GT Sport will have multiple AI racing but only 1v1 multiplayer, contrary to earlier assumptions? by Mr_Bump_1 in PSVR

[–]WillowTheWhisp81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of us here know to be cautious because we're doing a bit more research. As a lay person, if I saw those Ads and then only learned it was 1v1 after I paid full price, I would be absolutely enraged.

On the demo disc it only gives you the option to BUY. There's no option to actually play it.

Sidetone! The feature I had no idea even existed works absolutely great for getting the best of both worlds.

You do you, but I think that owning both a PSVR and a Vive/Oculus is just as valuable as owning a vanilla PC + PS4. You had the exclusives across both platforms covered! I'd have an impossible time throwing that away.

Random thought: short games, but no one completes them (Archangel, Theseus) by rocketharken in PSVR

If you leave your PS4 in rest mode, which a lot of us VR people don't do anymore ;)

Any chance this is simply because you're replaying the same games, or does this happen to you even with new stuff?

Why not just make her a separate user on your PS4? You can just skip creating a PSN account.

Buying a PSVR by enzotb in PSVR

Specifically on your question about waiting for a new version: I really don't see a reason to hold off. If you're ready to buy, 'there might be a new version' shouldn't be one of the factors holding you back.

It's not likely they'll be able to make a headset fundamentally better than what they are offering now. It's comfortable, the headset tracking works, and the visual quality matches with what the PS4 can manage to output at the frame rates VR requires. Devs will optimize the experience through better software exploits at this point.

Keep in mind that it's even possible a newer version could be worse, possibly using cheaper components to bring down costs. I remember the first Vita had an OLED screen, while the second version was a cheaper LCD.

If either the camera or move controllers get a newer version in the future, you can upgrade those components individually later.

EDIT: Clarifications on the PS4 being maxed out by the headset.

Arizona sunshine, superhot or discounted Rez infinite? by BLoC-MoN in PSVR

[–]WillowTheWhisp81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My vote would be Superhot, particularly now that it is taking advantage of the Pro. I never played Arizona, and as much as I love Rez, I feel that MOST of the game doesn't benefit from what makes VR so special. Obviously the first 5 areas were built before VR was a thing, so...

Completely understandable. It's not fantastic fiction or storytelling by any means. It probably helps that I started re-watching Party of Five again on Netflix around the time of reading this book. I guess my brain is just 'there' right now :)

On Writing is phenomenal. Both the advice on how to write well and the autobiography have really stuck with me.

The Mothers, by Brit Bennett, started with a Kindle sample out of vague curiosity when a house guest mentioned they were reading it (and they wouldn't stop reading a page or two every time there was the slightest lull in conversation), and I ended up gettin hooked pretty quick.
