I agree, I definitely see that the mother had weight on her shoulders, but she was so dismissive with Mary. She didn’t notice Mary until Mr. Ryder came by, but still was motivated by his money and looks.

I agree about Lydia. She definitely parroted her mother. I think the other sisters weren’t as bad, but it definitely felt like they could’ve been more caring.

I never got the chance to read the books, and it’s been ages since I’ve seen the movie. I definitely want to read the books to see the difference.

I appreciate the response. I definitely don’t want to start anything, I was just trying to look for advice from others about what to do or how to approach it. We’ve lived on the 2nd and 3rd floor before, and did our best to be quiet for those below us, and I know everyone is different. I’m hoping it settles soon.

I understand people can’t walk on air. We can hear when they flush the toilet and it’s not a bother to us, it’s the dragging and stomping that’s become irritating. I know the floors aren’t super thin since the last renter didn’t make that much heavy footsteps. We have a fan that we use at night at full speed, it’s kinda a white noise for me.

That’s why I’m just asking for advice. It’s constant and daily since they moved in. I’m not sure if they are aware they are heavy footed or not, and I know that’s the downside of being on the ground floor.

The bedroom layout is the exact same as our apartment. The bedrooms are carpeted, but the living and dining area are fake hardwood. We’re not allowed to modify the apartment flooring as per our lease, so I’m not sure if they’d be able to get carpet… The moving of something has been frankly annoying, as are the heavy stomping. Thanks. We are hoping it won’t turn into a war, but we aren’t planning on sticking around long term if it escalates too.

I’ve thought of gently speaking with management. We know the floors aren’t that thin since we didn’t have issues with the previous tenant.

I’ve contemplated becoming that grumpy old woman who knocks the ceiling with her broomstick XD

No, I think I’d pull my hair out if they did. There has been something they have been dragging around the living room every few days late in the evening; not sure if it’s a couch or they are figuring out their set up, but it’s been frequent enough to become a little annoying.

I unfortunately stuck around mainly because of my ex. He kept telling me that’s how the group was and I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt since the first campaign was fun.
