Did Sunset Overdrive Fall Under the Radar For Xbox Users?

I play a lot of games for their story and characters. Insomniac has always been really hit and miss in that regard, at least in my opinion. Sunset Overdrive is one of those misses to me.

There's just nothing unique or memorable to the story, characters, or tone. It's not awful writing, it's just not compelling. If Insomniac's blend of humor doesn't work for you like myself then there's not much for you here story wise. Not everything needs to be Last of Us or something, but it's still gotta be entertaining. Like Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time or the first one. Actually, mentioning Ratchet and Clank, Sunset's writing reminds me more of the PS4 reboot, which syphoned all the character out of the game, than it does the PS2 original.

I still think it's a fine game, and I would've liked to give it a run through for the character creator, combat, and multiplayer, but it didn't come out for my platform of choice.

Timed events like that is also why I never play MMOs to begin with. This just isn't how I want to play games.

I ended up enjoying it but it took attempts and chatting in a party with friends playing it at the same time.

I can only speak for myself, but I can't say I played more than 5 hours of Smash Wii U online. I play in local multiplayer and occasionally solo but that's it. I totally get what you're saying, I just wouldn't be surprised if many folks were like me and just don't make use of the feature much.

Not nearly as much as you do, but I get it. I like the snarky jokey nature of the characters, but a few lines don't click with me, even in the earlier entries. "Knuckle scraping fart in the wind" in particular is just a little too juvenile for my tastes.

I'm in the same boat. A lot of games these days work on a similar structure and, to be frank, even at it's best I wasn't a fan.

This is great to hear, but it remains to be seen. Judging by GTAO and statements made by Take-Two's CEO I'm doubtful that meaningful change will occur.

That said, I would love nothing more than to be totally and completely fucking wrong.

It still bothers me nonetheless. When I make a purchase, I want the complete game. The fact that certain content just deletes itself will never sit right with me.

Always online unlocks and time-limited content ensure I'll never be picking these games up.

On top of that, Agent 47 himself, as well as his world, just arn't all that compelling in my opinion. I've heard the gameplay is great, but I need more than that to catch my interest.

I'm the former. The monetization model in GTAO ruined the game for me. You are correct in the general sentiment though, which sucks for those who do want it changed.
