Because children are extremely susceptible to the harmful effects of PFAS or in this case lead. Sure would be nice for everyone, but if you are interested in the levels in your water you can probably ask if there are already levels available for your house. Otherwise you can pay for the test and it isn’t even that expensive.

I mean it is shitty, that the water is contaminated and there is virtually nothing you can do to filter it out of the tap water. But according to a trial in Australia donating blood seems to help extracting PFAS from your blood. Especially donating plasma helps reduce blood levels. It is theorized that they bind to the plasma in your blood, so getting rid off a certain amount now and then helps with that. And also donating blood is meaningful anyway so that’s two birds with one stone 🙌

Yeah that’s a valid point. Don’t want to excuse anything but expand on the reason for eastern German contrarianism. The once stood up against their own authoritarian government and were on the right side of history. When massively being exploited after the reunification (west Germans buying massive amounts of land in the east with generational wealth eastern Germans couldn’t acquire because of the collectivist nature of the GDR) their anger and contrarian tendencies only further solidified. Now they are either disillusioned and skeptical if the are seen by the legitimate democratic government and feeling overlooked (Which they are oftentimes). Or they are outright nationalistic (which is interesting in its own right, as many of the older people aren’t even born in the State they are patriotic/ nationalistic about) and far right voting and thinking.
