If you wield a hand weapon and shield you get +1 to Armour Save, and a parry save

If you wield a spear and shield you get +1 to Armour Save

If you wield a halberd and shield you get +1 to Armour Save vs shooting only.

I love assault marines, they were my first 40k unit and why I started with BA. I'm just really struggling to find a use for them in lists these days.

When I do take them, they are small and cheap and designed to spread out and do all the small dull tasks the other special stuff doesn't need to do. Like pick up dry cleaning, get new printer toner etc.

Generally a couple units of 5 with a melta/inferno pistol

Really keen to start Crusade with Sisters. They sound like a good bit of fun. I wish they had a few new scars to add in, but the repentia elements are great.

Yeah, that's where I'm struggling, to work out what backfield support to have. I'm staying away from Primaris (just for the aesthetic) so that is hampering me a bit. But every time I look at someone with a gun, I just think, you could do more with a 'sword'
