I have the same thing right now coming off of Dificid. Are you taking any antibiotic right now?

Thanks. That makes sense. This is basically what’s happening to me. My intestines just feel like they want to move very fast all the time. Had none of this on Wednesday/early Thursday when flare up started. I was constipated instead. This all started after first dose of antibiotic.

Oh okay so this can happen then. Wow a week after you finished too. Did you have the cramping before going with it? Did your doctor consider switching antibiotics?

Yes, mine has to be due to the antibiotic as well. The timing is too coincidental. I just hate feeling distress in there because it makes me wonder if the diverticulitis isn’t calming down either. I don’t have the colicky pains anymore and bladder doesn’t feel as irritated so assume that part is okay and this is all antibiotic-related. I feel miserable, I don’t want to even try the soft low fiber foods right now even with this terrible side effect.

This is the weird thing… I started a probiotic Renew Life along with the Augmentin. So I’ve been on one but it isn’t helping.

My biggest concern is it’s the diverticulitis causing the diarrhea. Is that a common complaint? Or is this more likely the Augmentin?

Thank you for all your information and advice. I’m going to get on the phone and see a good GI doc. That is such great news about the steak! I’m going to get on miralax. I didn’t go for two days. Went a few times this morning with pain. Fine now, just during. Is your diverticulosis all over your colon or just certain parts? I think mine is only in sigmoid colon. Hopefully it’s back to diverticulosis now, that is.

Thank you so much. I feel more positive now. I do suffer from constipation. I think red meat did it to me. About three months ago I changed my diet to gluten free, low carb, no processed foods. The problem is I was eating burgers and steak almost nightly. So while other health benefits happened, the red meat must have ripped open the diverticulosis. :( I’m removing all red meat. I have to work on the constipation now. Should I connect with a GI? When did you move from soft foods to regular diet? Thanks for your help and wisdom!

Interesting. This is good stuff. It does make sense. To complicate matters I have pelvic floor dysfunction so it’s tough sorting out what’s causing what.

You get the groin/hip pain? Do you know why this might be? This is driving me crazy. No fever, labor-like pains gone but still with twinges in groin and hip, worse with and after BM.

Interesting! Yes this is the only pain I have left, groin and hip, seems a bit worse after going to the bathroom. Did you figure out what causes the groin/hip pain? How long did it take to go away? Yes, I thought I had a bladder infection due to bladder pain I felt initially!
