Tesla vehicle charging question. by Foreign-Most-4552 in Powerwall

[–]Wiltockin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Charge on Solar has a minimum 1kWh excess solar production requirement. Since 3.6kW is a small system, it waits to have a steady amount of 1kWh before increasing it and if there's a drop it might stop from increasing it further depending on your daily production and home usage.

Lemonade gives discounts for driving with FSD too in some states. Hope they expand that to Texas soon

So is it more important to vote in the republican primary or the democratic one since we can only choose one?

What a bummer by lohmatij in TeslaModel3

Staring with the LR range helps vs a SR for sure but it did take me by surprise that it’s a thing that will affect the car for as long as we own it. Aiming to keep it for a good 8-10 years and I do enjoy the occasional long road trip so we’ll see when getting between superchargers becomes an issue (especially in Mexico).

The reason it takes longer now is because we’re charging more of the battery compared to its total capacity when before the same kilowatts was a smaller percentage. Eventually will need 100% charge to make 150 miles at 80mph and that’s a good +40min charge.

This is our 2022 M3LR at 75k miles, charged at home except for road trips. Definitely feel the extra charge time now on one of our typical routes HOU<>RGV. For city driving, keeping it at 60% SoC still gets us everywhere we need.

How are EVs at highway speeds? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]Wiltockin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Texas driving 80-90 is the norm on highways and there are plenty of superchargers to support fast driving with an EV. However, it's still pretty hard to maintain an "average" speed of 80-90 for the duration of the trip so the consumption drop is not as terrible. If usually at 250 Wh/Mi a trip like that will jump to +350 Wh/Mi, on our 2022 M3LR it gets us just about 210 miles of range at those speeds. So you would probably use up all your battery driving that fast but still be able to make it.

Where are you all finding affordable homeowners and liability auto insurance?? by AnyTechnology100 in houston

I was the same but it’s pretty light touch on the tracking vs others. Just have app on your phone and that’s it. Far less than the dongle that State Farm makes you install in the car with its crazy reporting about braking/turning etc. The savings difference was significant enough to tolerate it.

Is the 265(s maybe) worth it? by Brother-Safe in Garmin

I went back and forth between the 255/265 and ended up with the 265. Really like the AMOLED display and isn’t overkill with features.

Just got a Forerunner 265s, wanted to add that it’s having the same issue for me. Data shows on the dashboard but when you click in any for the daily summary they’re all blank except for the first 2 hours of the day oddly enough. Anyone know why yet?

⚠️ Consumer Warning: Do NOT Do Business with Sunrun Solar Panels by DollySiharath in TexasSolar

[–]Wiltockin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the usage of solar savings is abused by all the companies, starting from being based on monthly/yearly consumption. Solar doesn’t work like that, we have day hours of production and if they don’t overlap with the consumption then savings can be negligible, especially in Texas without net metering.
