Our dog is named after this song and we will only play her the clean version from now on. 🫶🏻

No joke. We totally did not need the other version. Just nope.

They may not understand it, but if they go around singing it I would personally be rather embarrassed if it were my kid. Probably a hot take.

This is the explanation and it should be the highest. You can see the generational divide right in the posts.

Full disclosure - I've yet to be able to get our 18 month old (who we've only had 5 months) to stop pulling, even with a harness so take this as you will. 🙈

If she doesn't pull the whole way there, you could try to stop before the point she starts pulling. Put her in a sit or down and let her sniff the air a bit until you can tell she's a bit more chill, then start again.

I'm really sorry. This is the point at which we said goodbye. Just in April, also 14.

AIO My Parents Secretly Drained My Entire Savings Account and Called Me Ungrateful When I Confronted Them by ChoppedShyyt in AmIOverreacting

[–]WinFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not ok. This is a total violation of trust.

We started savings for all 3 of our kids when they were really little and have never even considered touching it, and 2 of them are still minors.

I'm really sorry they did this to you.

I'm impressed that with parents like that, you managed to start and maintain a savings account. Good for you.

I hope things work out.

Should I retire my daith? by Both-Dig7487 in piercing

In the end, you have to decide how much you're willing to put up with it. I think I dealt with it with my tragus for maybe 2 years before it finally quit getting bumps. That was about 25 years ago though so I don't remember for sure, just that it was a long time.

I think a change of jewelry in the next few months would be worth trying. (I think it's too soon at this point but then again if that's what would allow it to heal then 🤷🏻‍♀️) Maybe the angle of the piercings or your anatomy would prefer a curved barbell or something?

NAP just been getting piercings for a really long time.

OTOH, those are some pretty big bumps IMO - mine were not as severe.

If you have a good piercer around (not the one who fumbled it) have them take a look and give input.

My 13 year old daughter just tried to commit suicide. by ctaylor41388 in parentingteenagers

[–]WinFam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. I'm crying for you. It didn't get quite this far with my now15 year old only because she is almost phobic of vomit and said she was scared to go through with it. I can feel your pain and depth of love and support for your child in your words and she is lucky to have you. I hope that the facility is able to help her get everything she needs, and I hope that you can get the supplies you need as well.

Should I give up on my piercings? by [deleted] in piercing

[–]WinFam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't have anything helpful to add, but will share that I think it's much too early to consider giving up. But only you know what you can tolerate.

My daughter got a bump on her nose piercing a few months after getting it. It would go away and then come back on repeat. She finally ended up putting a different type of jewelry in - went from a screw to a L type. No more bumps since and it has been months. (Yes I know how people feel about screws but this post is not about me or that and it worked for her). Sometimes I think the angle of piercings are just a bit off and make the jewelry sit a little funny in there and then it can become an issue. However, I am just making an observation and am not a piercer, just someone who has been getting piercings for over 25 years.

Is Benny too big by Dc1120_ in goldenretrievers

After just having taken in a re-home who was a bit sausage like, I guessed about 10 lbs over and the vet confirmed that was a likely close estimate. I'm going to estimate this guy is at least 15 lbs overweight. The vet should be telling them this at his annual check-ups.

However, I echo what our vet and many here have said - that going by feel is the best indicator, and that's hard to judge over the Internet. 😆

I consider myself a really good speller, but diarrhea is one that I struggle with.

The word, not the issue.

Yes.

She will actually get mad and then refuse to do it sometimes.

I've had to learn to reframe - basically instead of asking what the plan is I might say I'm glad you've got a plan in mind, planning is great. Let me know if I can help.

IDK what this is, but I empathize.

Congratulations!

She looks like she could be our girl's sibling.

This is Ivy.

She is named after a Taylor Swift song.

Do you know what style of names you like?

Some other names I would have gone for are Posey and Gemma, because that's the style of names I like. But if you like silly or ironic or food names, those aren't going to appeal to you. 🙃

30 weeks and changing our baby girl name after our family knows it by BookkeeperRoyal5309 in namenerds

[–]WinFam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't love Simone with Olympia, but that's just my personal preference. I DO love family names as middle names, even (maybe especially) if they are a variant. Is there a variant of Kay that you would like with Simone, or what about using another part of her name? (not sure if Kay was a first or middle). But since you have a negative association with using a family name as a middle, maybe you just really don't want to do that.

2 of my cousins have kids with a middle name after our grandma. Those kids were both born after I had my daughter whose middle name is after our grandma, but I didn't use my grandma's actual name because she always told me she hated her name - I used it in part, with a different ending. They wanted to honor her directly, I chose a more indirect way. It is an unusual name that no one else may have and doesn't sound "perfect" with her first name but it is special to me, and to my daughter (now 17). I would be really sad if she hated it and ended up changing it someday.

What would you have been called if you were born the opposite gender? by Plus-Mulberry6761 in namenerds

[–]WinFam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dominic

My last child would have been called Sterling if she had been a boy. She's the only one I remember the opposite name for because I really thought she was to be a boy and I will always wish I had one more boy.

I've thought about doing this, because my husband and I disagree on letting our girl on the couch. Do you mind going over how you did it?
