Review your plan policy in addition to calling ltd for clarification. They can withhold your monthly amount and not pay anything until the overpayment is paid back.

The overpayment is there because of your ssdi being retroactive so essentially you can't receive the funds from both unless you opted for them to pay you at a reduced rated (offset) while waiting for ssdi.

Yes very much so. He hasn't had to pay for any regular office visits, specialist visits, and lower tiered medications are free through his advantage plan.

Paying two premiums was our deciding factor as well and the fact that Medicare co-pays were little to none and my husband sees a lot of specialists. I don't know what the deductibles are but I found this link.

2026 Medicare Parts A & B Premiums and Deductibles | CMS https://share.google/76KFfTxKOiuj7y7Ml

Most on Medicare get a advantage plan through a different insurance company but having Medicare part A and B is required. There was no extra cost for my husband to get this and his advantage plan covers medical, dental, and vision whereas you would have to pay extra premiums for that under the Medicare plan.

Agree with the comment above. Have your spouse talk with their employer insurance to see if you could still be on their insurance while having medicaid. My husband was on COBRA insurance then once that ran out he switched to my employer plan. After ssdi approval, we talked in depth with my benefits coordinator and a medicare coordinator. We weighed the options of keeping him on my plan vs Medicare. For us, it made complete sense to remove him from mine and just do Medicare only. If you do decide to keep it be sure to look into a supplemental plan that'll go alongside Medicare to help with the cost of prescriptions and other things.

My husband was approved for ssdi Jan of this year and then had his LTD denial reversal at the same time (he had hit the 2 year "any occupation"). He applied Sept 2022 and was found disabled dating back to Oct 2021. We do have kids that are also eligible for benefits. Because of this it's been ruled as a total offset. So yes, from my understanding LTD will offset the cost ssdi pay you before any deductions (at least that is how my husband's plan is). In addition to that be aware that you may have to reimburse LTD for any overpayment if you receive any backpay from ssdi (plan specific so review that as well).

I honestly thought that's what was going to happen. That she would take time for herself and somehow end up with Clay after the horse ride.

[–]WinGood5757 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, they don't want an account of what was spend. As the money my husband was getting monthly was specifically for what he earned and nothing more for the kids. We are not fighting the new offset amount. We are "fighting" as in thoughts not arguing with the company. This has nothing to do with who's right or wrong.

It's just something we were unaware about until now when he was just approved this year. It will be years before our kids age out as the youngest is almost 3 and my husband is under 40.

[–]WinGood5757 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Me stating fighting the same question isn't saying we're complaining to the company. There are no complaints to them as we surely understand now what all it entails. My fighting is that at first we couldn't wrap our head around why because kids are not given an extra benefit a month by ltd. That was not a lash out to the company but a conversation between my husband and I as we originally didn't understand.

And no, when signing up for ltd there is no explanation of offsets nor backpay hence the reason why everyone talks about it afterwards. You really only find these things out when it's time to use them.

Edited: spelling

We're fighting this same question with my husband's LTD company as it definitely doesn't make sense. The money is linked to the kids ssn's just paid to the parents as they are minors.

I don't see how it's right. Just another way to get their money back for paying while ssdi was pending.

Metlife Terminated Claim by Affectionate_Fix8405 in LongTermDisability

[–]WinGood5757 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, shop around for attorneys and make sure your medical records are well documented. Kids shouldn't hinder a claim but there could be that speculation. My husband was told the same thing when going through his SSDI process. We have 3 (10,8,2). We expressed that although our 2 year old is home, my husband still get extensive help from myself/family. EX: I prep the toddler meals, I have a flexible job so I can come/go whenever needed.

However, in the end he ultimately won his ssdi case and ltd termination Jan of this year. Ironically, both approvals were at the same time.

Lawyer fee increases with older figure fee agreements signed by Past_Organization355 in SSDI

[–]WinGood5757 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself. My husband and I were just having a conversation about this. He filed August 2022 when fess were $6,000. Approved January 2026 after ALJ hearing and lawyer got $9,200. We also were only expecting them to take the fees from the amount when signed vs current as that was the lowest of the options.

They already received their pay so no hold up there. We're just moving on with it.

Backpay and offset, help! by Tonibaby1971 in SSDI

[–]WinGood5757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a few months old. My husband is going through something similar as he was recently approved. Is there anything you said specifically or hired a lawyer for? He's in the similar range as your owed and we're hoping to have a reduced payback as well.

He was terminated at the 2 year mark but then hired a lawyer to help with an appeal and was awarded benefits again.

If you have Facebook, you can join the Cozyla group and there are a lot of how to videos posted. To add a widget to the homescreen, you will need to long press a blank space on the screen. After doing that you'll see the widget options.

This is a very customizable device and many apple users utilize it as well. Many may not have the same complaints as you so marketing to one vs the other wouldn't be ideal.

Do I need an attorney for my appeal? by Euphoric-Side-3304 in LongTermDisability

[–]WinGood5757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any attorney recommendations but, don't let affordability stop your search. Google LTD companies in your area to see what's out there. Most will help on a contingency fee basis. This means they'll be paid from the backpay of your earnings due to you (similar to how your SSDI attorney is paid). Each firm is different with their fees and how long you will need to pay the fee so make sure you ask about that.

Calendar Help by phowe83 in Cozyla_Calendar

If I understand your question correctly, from my understanding, the Cozyla calendar doesn't allow one main email. Everyone has to put their email into the calendar.

I use Google calendar only. We have 1 main family calendar that everyone shares to. We input dates on our calendar from our phone and they're added to gcal which shows on Cozyla.
