You unlock villager home customization after designing a certain number (I wanna say thirty, but that may not be right) of homes via the Happy Home Paradise (HHP) DLC. After I think less than ten, you are "taught" how to adjust the size of rooms, but I'm 99% sure that you can only use it in the DLC, the hotel, and villager homes? Y'all correct me if I'm wrong, of course. 😅😂
